I've been collecting and working on my set-up for years, here are a few tips:
-anything with integrated speakers is going to be absolute shit
- for a brand new entry level turntable, check out the Audio Technica PL60 ($80)
- for a good vintage player look for anything technics on craigslist. You're gonna want a direct drive. The ideal would be 1200 mk2, but that'll run you around $300.
-as far as a receiver, look for a vintage Marantz, Yamaha, Sony, or Polk. A vintage receiver will produce a warmer smoother and less technical sound.
- For speakers, look for some nice bookshelf speakers. A good pair of cheap bookshelf speakers would be anything by Polk audio, or if you're looking to buy new, check out the Dayton B652s!
Hope this helps.
