Hey guys, I just got my first pair of rockers! Cant wait till this winter! Anyway, I dont know where I want to mount my bindings for optimal performance for me. Heres my breakdown. Skis are 2012 K2 ObSETHed- 189. Bindings are Rossi Axial 2 140 XXL. ( I have already passed my first huge dilema in deciding between Look P18 and axial 2... came down to $171 vs. $308... I got the Rossi, it was hard to change, Ive been on the Pivot for the past 7 years!! I am 6'3" 215#, athletic, aggressive, more old school skiing style.(Read: im 38, only switch ride on groomers when I m with the kids or widfe to entertain mystelf) Not too much park. learning rails. Intermediate at boxes, advanced at jumps and airs. I want these to perform well through Moguls ,and rip groomers on my way to find the tree stashes! My previous ski is a 2005 Volkyl Karma. My approach to skiing is: 1. I ski inbounds . search for all steep and deep, and love trees. I am thinking of mounting at +1.5 from traditional, which equals -6 from core center. Ive read reviews to say a slight forward mount as such will help the obSETHed manuvuer better in bumps and short radius turns. I dont want to go too far forward and hurt its Powder performance, but I am eager to learn these new styles of riding with rocker !! My BIG question is this!! The obSETHed has a 40cmrocker tip and 20cm in the tail ... and if I mount forward, will that take away my edge hold when its needed most in FIRM , STEEP, GNARLY terrain??? On the other hand I have read that a slight forward mount from traditional helps to control the wheeleis out of cliff/cornice drops. ( Mind you my limit is 15' )
So my thoughts are traditioanl or +1.5 from traditional . Opinions???
