im still excited for the film but that trailer did nothing for me at all. i feel like everyone liked it because it has b and e in it. if poor boyz did that trailer i believe there would have been wayy more hate, i love b and e and tanner and what they do but thats just my two sense

I got to see tanners segment at D-Splash and at the end of the segment a title reading "Friends" came up before Eric Iberg snatched the computer away so I wouldn't be surprised if they're in it.

Also anybody thinking that the whole movie is going is going to be 30's dance hall songs has got something wrong with them. At D-splash Phil and Henrik both said that they think it's the best segments they have ever done so I'm expecting some awesome shots.

Nobody is complaining about there being "bangers" or not really. What I'm concerned with and I think others are too, is if this movie is going to be one long episode of B&E where the skiing is sick, but the editing takes away from it.

The editing was done by some guy in Minnesota, not B&E, so it's not distracting like the b&e show.

i liked the trailer, a little more original than we all are used to, i think thats what most of the hate is coming from. they see something that is not standard for B&E and skiing in general, and they criticizes it based on that. To point some fingers, some of the shoots was a little over-edited with the colors. Rule of thumb is to think that the whitebalance should be white, not blue etc... i also missed the sound editing. For me sound is as important as the cinematography. i know its not usual to use a lot of ski and environment sounds in skifilms, but just take a look at the new pbp trailer. they're one of the few who actually cares about that, and it lifts the trailer a lot (imo). Make a good effort with the sound editing and you will have a banger film! (it will be banger anyway, but it will be even better with a good audio-image)

Cool then, I'm not as worried now.

And to clarify above, I don't think the trailer was terrible I just don't want them to try to hard to make the editing so unique and then that subtracts from the superb skiing. Because despite what people said I loved the feel of Retallack with the smaller amount of riders and the types/quality of shots, etc.

I love how you're really lecturing Iberg about editing and white balance. The dude made IDEA dipshit.

Just because you learned how to use iMovie with youtube tutorials doesn't make you an expert. There are literally no hard fast rules to editing, including white balance. All sorts of movies make conscious color palette choices and skewing white towards blue is one of the most common. Not to mention, combining shots from different cameras, lenses, filmers, and editing software is going to lead to discrepancy between various shots that make the film. As this isn't the next Batman movie, I think we can overlook a few minor hiccups.

And then, to make the post even dumber, you prop up WE as the gold standard which happens to be the most generic, trite, hackneyed trailer I can recall seeing.

First of all im not trying to lecture anyone, i was simply pointing out some errors i saw. And im soon starting my 2nd year at a filmschool, so no im not some newb thinking that im the best in editing just because i saw a tutorial that showed me how to color correct, i still have A LOT to learn, but im getting there. im not trying to be a wise ass, but as i said im just ponting some small errors out. The cinematography was sick btw... Some of the shoots (ex:the pow one) had a different colorlook, its important that all the shots look mostly the same in color and exposure (an example on doing this the wrong way is "the grand bizarre"... color correction, WB and exposure was all the way down to hell in that film), and im not talking about the whitebalance being set wrong with the camera, but like the color correction that makes it look like its set wrong. Please elaborate why u hated the poorboyz one, you just sound like a noob that don't recognize good production value, dope cinematography and a soundimage that actually work (like the breck segment in weight) and just hate on it just because you didnt like the song. Its allways the discussion about the music, i personally think it works, but its not a tune i would choose if i was making a skitrailer. Peace!

I really fucking hope not...

 Eric Iberg is a legend in snowsports cinematography, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he knows most of the general guidelines and rules and doesn't need a 2nd year film student giving him hints or some half-baked critique.

i have never questioned the cinematography, its the grading. And to add something more, i think i spotted like 4 different saturations in that trailer as well: 1: black/white 2: almost completely desaturated. 3: a little less desaturated. 4. and some shoots with more color depth (im shure there's more). And when i said it was over-edited some posts over, i was talking about the grading, so sorry for not pointing that out before. These errors are so obvious that even a 2nd year film-student like me can point them out.

Surely we can accept that within this trailer they may have had excerpts from certain areas of the film, which each individually may be saturated differently to indicate a change in location/rider/style/theme or maybe just because he felt like it.

Perhaps he also felt like messing about with the accepted norms, much like impressionist painting moving away from the realism of the old masters.

Nevertheless saying something is wrong just because it goes against what are accepted basic rules is a little stifling in any creative pursuit. So you disagree with it, doesn't mean it's wrong.

you are certainly right, but when you are putting out a trailer for a film you want people to pay for, you should least make it properly. If you want to make something experimental, just go for it 100%! I feel like its mixed of many different ideas, and just cooked together in a way that just don't make sense to me.

best trailer so far in my opinion, sure the song was goofy and it's rough around the edges but that's just part of B and E/inspired. ill take a movie featuring only those 3 and made as they want over another identical level 1 movie any day..stoked for this, definitely the only one ill be buying this year

I wouldn't say thats true...best shots are used i'd venture to guess, but i'm pretty sure they hold back quite a bit.

Personally thought some of the footage looked good, thought I saw some 16mm in there, could be wrong though. Tricks looked sick but wasn't into the song at all. Not to stoked on the reefer song, I mean cool smoke pot but why make a point of it?

Overall I think I'd probably check it out if a friend had it playing.

i don't even smoke and it doesn't bother me that they used a "reefer song". Half the songs in the world are about smoking/doing some drug. Get over it and stop being so childish over some lyrics. "I mean cool they smoke pot" is more played than actually smoking pot. Again, I don't even smoke but you need to smoke a blunt to get over it

that's a weird thing to say based purely on speculation.. anyway, the stept movie looks good to me for some of the same reasons education of style does... smaller group of really good riders doing what they like/do best, how they want, in a tighter package. i love varied movies as much as the next guy and in real life im way more into charging steeps/cliffs than urban etc nowadays, but ive seen enough hour long movies with a million riders, im more attracted to the shorter, more banger movies that fill their niches so well
