No no no... Chick-Fil-A alienated customers and employees by firing those who don't take part in employee prayers, and by supporting anti-gay groups. I hope you understand how significantly large the homosexual population is in this country. It's massive. That's a SHITLOAD of customers that would instead go to KFC, because as far as I know, KFC doesn't lobby alongside anti-gay groups.

This goes beyond the article at hand. This goes wayyy prior to anything Boston did...

A company can not support civil rights all they want, but don't expect a city like Boston, which fully supports civil rights to a fucking T, to have a place for such a company.

Chick-fil-a supports anti-homosexual lobbyist groups, forces their employees to join in prayer, and fires those who don't. Yea, Boston alienated them, but there is nothing wrong with telling a company you won't tolerate their bull shit in your city. In fact, its fucking awesome.

Imagine you're the mayor of your town and Westboro Baptist Church calls you up and asks for zoning permits so they can build a new church in your city. They have clear intentions to harass veterans and gays and pretty much everyone in your town on the basis of their right to have an opinion. Would you say yes because you believe they have a right to hate and discriminate against the people in your town?

but in response to what you said, I have a lot of friends that work at chick-fil-a and it's pretty well known that they are a christian company that's supports christian ideas and beliefs, so why are people freaking out when they learn that they don't support gays. Just because they don't support them does not mean that they hate gays, they just simply don't support them because they don't believe in it. Also, they might not have business in boston, but they have plenty of business everywhere I have gone to one, they are the busiest fast food restaurant in my town and a lot of areas around here so from the business side it's not like they are suffering.

But, I really want to say is that the owners of the company are not hateful people, I have had the pleasure of meeting them once and my Dad has done some business with them and they are genuine nice people, not these hateful biggots that you are all putting them out to be. I don't understand how you can hate so much on them when you go and say you hate how they hate on other people, stop being hypocrites.

Well, you live in North Carolina (according to your profile). That's in the south, and I'm not surprised they make bank down there. They'll be successful in the south for years to come - but they are being stupid by intertwining their political/social beliefs and their business practices, because it's limiting their expansion. Boston is a HUUUGE metro area. and if they aren't able to access places in the most populated parts of the country, they will never be a large chain like the others, no matter how many NCAA bowl games they sponsor.

And yeah.. they aren't hateful people TOWARDS YOU... If you were gay, however, and running around like Louis CK's description from the video clip I posted, I'm sure the Cathys would be much less welcoming and/or nice.

Sure, they aren't the Westboro Baptist church... they aren't that loud and retarded... but I'm sure they'd shake their hands before they'd shake the hand of Harvey Milk.

I agree, they won't be as successful as a business with it, but honestly I think they know that and that's not a huge issue to them.

but, why judge them in the way you think they would act towards gay people when you have no earthly idea. I'm surrounded by a lot of christians, hell I live in the South so you know that, and honestly ya there are the people that hate gays but I know a lot of people that don't hate gays and have gay friends yet they are christians, they just don't believe it's right because it's against there beliefs.

what I'm trying to say is don't think all christians are hateful towards gays, because it just simply isn't the case.

Exactly. I go to church. My church openly supports gay marriage. Another church in town stood in front of my church with signs about how we're going to hell for it (only in much more colorful language). Now does that mean all christians are hateful towards gays? No. But now if you say you're christian in my town they assume you are anti-gay because of the bigots with signs

that said, Not even all family run, christian fast food chains are hateful towards gays - in N out being a prime example.

But AGAIN... In N Out burger doesn't go around supporting and lobbying alongside anti-gay groups, nor does it fire employees based on how they conduct their religious affairs. Chick-Fil-A does. And because of that, as a company, I will not support them, and neither will hundreds of thousands if not millions of other americans...

I mean they don't have to agree with same sex marriage but to come right out and say that the generation that supports it has an "arrogant attitude" is outrageous. I hope they lose business quickly which they probably will considering a large amount of the American population supports gay rights... they fucking deserve it.

Plus the fact that they sued that small t-shirt business or whatever it was for using "eat more kale" as a slogan is another perfect example of how they are morally corrupt.

Not to mention their food is hideous..

both groups have hate for something. therfore both groups are filled with hate. sure group B, you, will say that "well, im only butthurt because these dudes are butthurt about these other dudes pounding each others butts". crappy justification, but its what your doing whether you realize it or not

I could agree with they way they run their company, or I could disagree. Either way, I sure as hell don't think I need to run around making all kinds of noise and starting boycotts to try and destroy their business over it.

And they're not violating any laws. They simply have an opinion that you do not share. There's a difference between hating on something, and not supporting something.

I don't support the US Women's fencing team, but does that mean I hate them? Absolutely not.

Im an atheist, and pro gay marriage and shit even i have to side with chick-fil-a. Now id have to hear what exactly chick-fil-a was saying, and not coming from some biased intolerant liberal source. but to me, sounds like they are just anti gay marriage, which is completely fucking fine by me, if its a christian value to marry only women then they sure as hell dont lose my respect for following their religion.

i swear some liberals can be some of the most intollerant ass holes ever. like they give the most racist deep south rednecks a run for their money. theres like this weird ass politically correct hippie code that i havent figured out yet, but if you step out of that shit just a tad you run the risk of being eaten alive by hardcore liberals. i lived in boulder CO for 3 months, which probably has the highest concentration of these people in the US, and i was bitched at for eating meat, wearing boots, my soap choice, choosing plastic at the grocery store, driving a car rather than bike, believing in spanking a child if they fuck up bad enough, not hating the rich. its like anytime i voiced my opinion outside of my group of friends or went outside i ran the risk of being criticized by some intolerant liberal fuck who hadnt showered in a week.

i want to start a business selling watches for dogs. its a horrible idea, so the government should step in and stop me from pursuing my dream of a world where dogs wear watches simply because i wont generate enough revenue for the government to tax?

And that's perfectly fine. But what I disagree with, the the mayor of a city denying the people of his city the right to choose whether they support them or not. I'm sure that 100% of the people in Boston don't have the same views as the mayor.

And you have every right not to support them, but why must you go out of your way to try and force your view on many other people. Just don't go to their restaurant, go to KFC, and move on with your life.

Now while it may be somewhat extreme to ban a restaurant from a city the state does protect gay rights and the mayor is well within his rights to do so

Dude... that's nothing new. That's just how shit goes in the world lol. The government is run like a company in it's own right, only it's democratically run by the people. It has just as much right to say how to conduct it's affairs as a company that would be entering it's location. That's 101 kinda shit.

The town I live in (Ashland Oregon) has a specific area of town that does not allow large corporately run buisinesses. If it's a 1/2 mile or more away from the freeway, it must be locally owned and run. Sure, it's restrictive, but it's also making sure some Walmart kinda company doesn't come in and fuck up the town's local flavor. Governments have these rights, and I for one stand by it. Sometimes Government DOES do it's job right - Especially local governments which are pretty damn in touch with what the people in town want/don't want.

If you want to sell watches for dogs, you probably wouldn't get past the loan process, much less the lease process... and if you can't set up shop in one city, then hope the city down the road will... Duh.

But they can create economic value in a system where the government accurately enforces rules upon the private sector - which would in turn run amok and make it's own laws that would benefit itself, without regard for anything else if it was left to it's own devises. The issue is when lobbying and power of the private sector becomes so long that they basically end up writing their own laws for the government to 'enforce' or 'not enforce'.

Regulating what companies can run where isn't a bad regulation. I'd rather not see my small college/theatre town taken over by walmart and become just another fucking highway town thankyouverymuch.

I live here and everyone is accepting of gays and seem to be much more accepting of all people than other places in our country I have been to. I know a few people in my school who have gay parents that are married and I accept that and think that they shouldn't be persecuted for it. The mayor isn't forcing anything of political views on anyone, he simply will not support or tolerate a corporation that does not accept some of his citizens as equals and rather discriminates against them. Why is that so hard for you to accept and understand, these "liberals" accept others and share that they think this should happen in our country, if I see republicans doing that well, I'd be fine and glad to see it but I don't.
