Replying to Laptop Advice

So I need a laptop/notebook for academy.
I don't know what to get.
I don't have time to research.
So I need some educated advice from you people.

I guess I'll probably want a cd burner....dvd player....big hard drive...and for it to be fast. SMALL is pretty key, too.
besides that, I really don't know what to look for.

As for price, I'm not looking to spend big bucks, because academy is stealing all of my money.

Those 800 dollar Dells? etc.
