ok so Dumbledore has the elder wand, but Gandalf is a ring bearer and has his staff so i see that as, at least, a power match for them from item wielding, and i think Gandalf will have to pull out as better from his humility and rejection of power, in contrast to Dumbledore who sought power, in addition Gandalf is far oder and therefore far wiser. and to cap it all off, Gandalf died only to return only more powerful. so Gandalf i think the clear winner
two different kinds of magic within their own imaginary literary worlds, but i have to say, reading the lord of the rings, i am much more frequently in awe of gandalf's badassness.
it is clearly dumbledore. he has a magical world with virtually unlimited possibilities at his fingertips. think of the battle between gandalf and saruman. All they could do was fucking spin and fly each other into walls and shit. Now I admit that they probably had other powers not showcased in this battle but if they had powers that were much better, why not use them to quickly kill the opponent? dumbledore can conjure fire, water, killing curses, protective spells, etc.
gandalf. I like him grey a lot more then white though. But Gandalf actually DOES a lot of shit in Lord of the Rings, while Dumbledore is more secretive and shit. Also he leaves in the wrong times all the time, making bad stuff happen in the first place.
dumbledore didn't really seek power. he realized he shouldnt when he was young, hence the reason he was headmaster of hogwarts instead of minister of magic.
also, gandalf isn't human, he CAN'T die, really. so obviously he is way older and wiser than dumbledore and did the whole coming back to life thing. that being said, i'd still give him a slight edge over dumbledore. both are pretty dope though.
