Look px12 Jibs, or Marker griffons?

Alright so the original binding I bought for my skis were the Marker griffons, but after 2 seasons, 2 broken breaks, and a missing slidey thing on the toe piece (what ever the hell it is called) I decided to get a new pair. I went looking and found a brand new pair of look px12 Jibs for 130 dollars, did some research and decided i probably wasnt going to find a better deal. Well i just got back from my local shop to get my new bindings mounted. When I got there the guy that helped me out proceeded to tell me that the griffon was a better binding and asked why i was switching them. Needless to say that "fuck me" feeling came over me and i just responded with "Ive only ever ridden marker and i decided it was time to switch it up" Which is true in that that single pair of bindings were the only pair of bindings ive ever owned. SO, Im just wondering if the markers really are better or if the guy at the shop just has no clue what he is talking about and is just trying to promote markers because thats the main binding they sell at their shop.

The guy in the shop either doesn't know what he's talking about/ has been very lucky with his experiences/doesn't ski hard at all/is lying to you to try and get you to buy markers from the shop. The px12's will be much better than the griffons, the px12's have the same sort of afd as the griffons(correct me if I'm wrong) so they might still have that slide off, but they'll be much better overall.

I don't think he is trying to fuck you over. He feels like griffons are better so he told you. I don't know why you would buy new bindings if just the AFD plate is cracked.

Yeah I understand where you are coming from. and about the afd plate, it was completely missing not just cracked.

They're still replaceable, but it's your choice and you'll probably like the px12's just fine.

I don't think they Griffon is superior to the PX12 in any way. PX is a solid binding that you can always find for a great price.

Well if you think 2 broken breaks is bad then that's the first thing I see wrong. In a single season I cracked/tore off at least 4 PX12 breaks so that was pretty shitty.

The toe piece on the PX12 is actually really nice because of the rotatable toe hold which has saved my knee in more than one occasion.

Overall the PX12 has done well for me and obviously looks super sick, but I can't deny the fact that quite a number of pros swear by the Griffons and either choose those or FKS'. I've never used either of them, but in this case I'd say you would probably be fine with the PX12s as their a little bit more of a "Beginner-Intermediate" binding and aside from the brake issue are a solid choice in my book.

Sidenote: If you do choose the PX12, buy 2-3 extra brakes right off the bat and if you go on a ski trip bring a pair along in case you run into problems. Like any brake their relatively cheep and super easy to replace. (NEVER HAVE A SHOP REPLACE THEM)

^Why not have a shop replace them? and is there a different between the px12 and pc12 jib?

Also wondered if you can remove the heel piece on the PX12's like on the griffons where it just unscrews all the way off the track...

Px12 is a solid binding I rode the Axail2 for about 40 days this season and overall was really pleased with their performance and durability. For me the Axail2/Px12 is the best 12 din binding on the market bomber looks, durability and performance. I have had numerous poor experiences with marker royal family range, the most frequently occuring problem for me was the heel piece sliding back on the rail. This of course was a big problem as it mean't I prereleased a lot, obviously the last thing you want to be thinking about when hitting a feature.

Your brake issue is a function of something you're doing. Not a flaw in the binding itself.

if you're having problems with bindings breaking (not just the brakes), it's time to man up to a more beefy binding. just because you ride within the din range means nothing. if you're blowing griffons apart, it's time to spend the extra and buy a pair of jesters.

the vast majority of broken griffons i've seen have been from user error (ie housing takes a shit kicking and eventually wears through). for every broken jester i've seen, i've seen maybe 10-20 broken griffons.
