The articles you linked do not at all contradict with the information at ski-injury.com so I'm not sure you why you felt the need to link. The findings are the same, a 35% reduction in low grade head injuries. The only difference I could find was that that particular article loved to throw around the phrase "significant reduction."
Ski-injury.com also explains that children gain the most benefit of helmet use due to their soft non fully formed skulls. I'm sure that helmet probably did save that little girls life, but considering new schooler's is probably not full of 6 year old girls, I didn't think that piece of information was particularly relevant. If you want all the details though I stand by my original statement of encouraging everyone to go read for themselves.
No one seems to want to tackle the real elephant in the room which is the 15mph or less impact rating of ski helmets. I understand it's much easier to strawman on the other tidbits out there, but if people take away anything from this discussion I think it should be that.
Furthermore I would really appreciate if people would stop assuming that I have some sort of anti helmet agenda. My only agenda here is to educate. The efficacy of helmets has been seriously over-inflated.
If you really, really want my own personal reason for not wearing a helmet it's convenience, there is nothing especially stylish about wearing a beanie either, but it sure folds up and fits in a pocket quite nicely.
