The Dark Knight Rises: What did you guys think?

I personally thought it was way too drawn out and that they introduced way too many new plot aspects. We only get to see Batman kicking ass in like 2 scenes too.

They did let Bane reclaim a bit of his dignity though by saying he was going to kill Batman against Talia's orders. Either Bane's death and role reversal were the only terrible thing about the movie. If that had been changed it would have been a legendary film for me.

Great movie, but more like Batman Begins than The Dark Knight, dragged more than a bit in the second act. I disliked Selina Kyle's character very much and I thought she added absolutely nothing to the film or the plot, morality of thieves not withstanding. I also thought that the third act with all the rising was a bit too much like what happened in the first 40(?) minutes.

Other than these little peeves, it was visually stunning, the sound effects and music were absolutely suffocating the entire theater, the amount of characters was juggled very well which I first thought would be nigh impossible and Gordon-Lewitt and Bane really made this film go from good to great. Still, one can only wonder how this would have gone down if Ledger was still alive, seeing that even Scarecrow appeared in all three movies. The ending was fairy tale at its best and I absolutely loved it, if not for the very, very stupid quip about a certain character's real name, I mean c'mon.

I laughed when I saw Quinn from Dexter as the copper, haha.

Well, my comment is regarding an explanation, not that he wasn't a brute in the film. Not to mention that the film regards his mask as opiate/painkiller based and not anything relating to Venom, you dull nincompoop.

but I saw it a second time and I liked knowing the ending as you pick up on some things she did that I didn't get the first time. like how she picks the wrong truck with the bomb, how she convinces fox to operate the reactor, how bane picks her out of the crowd about to be exiled.

there is also an interesting line before batman takes the bomb out to the bay.

selina says "are you going to take it out to the bay and eject?" or something like that. then batman says "no autopilot" is he straight up lying so everyone thinks he's dead or is he saying no there is auto pilot? I hate it when movies sell the twist too much that they are straight up lying.

One thing I would change to make the movie more epic would be at the end of the movie when alfred is in florence is if they would have showed him sitting down with his drink looking up and smiling and cut the movie right there. not shown bruce and selina but just alfred smiling. I think that would have been soooo epic.

I still can't get over the whole marxism theme though. it's crazy.

I thought it was really good. I don't think anything could have outdone the Dark Knight, though, but I still think Christopher Nolan did such a good job with this one. Want to see it again.

There is going to be a Justice League movie and they're going to reboot Batman again. Justice League has a 2015 release date and its going to coincide with Man of Steel superman.

I was secretly hoping that he would blow up new jersey rather than go out to sea.



I thought it was good. A bit long for my liking though. About 2.5hrs is the max before it starts getting tedious.

MY THEORY: batman is dead. after his death alfred went into a state of depression only cure by drug abuse. such drug abuse caused hallucinations and his experience seeing bruce at the cafe was in his head. hes really in an insane asylum..

i liked it a lot. it really kept my attention, and i didnt think it was predictable. one thing i didnt like was that i couldn't understand bane at all. i wish they would have done the audio on his voice differently. it just seemed odd. also, i wanted them to explain his mask more. other than that, it was really good

The subtitles did come handy during a few of his scenes, I admit. But I saw the first scene a long time ago when it leaked and they definitely made it much more audible since then and for a good reason.

Just saw this today, I thought it was an excellent movie, it really tied the trilogy together. It wasn't as good as the dark knight, but it wrapped things up appropriately. The length of the movie was not a problem for me, but I like long movies, I do wish that bane was slightly easier to understand, but it could have had something to do with the movie visual being a slight bit off of the sound, which pissed me off an incredible amount. The plot twist was good, and really explained Miranda Tate's actions earlier in the movie. To fully get the story, you really have to go back and think about it, or see it again. There were two things I didn't like about the movie, number one being that Banes relationship with ra al ghul confused me a lot, and this movie lacked memorable quotes, which were abundant in The Dark Knight. Overall, it was a good movie

I saw it yesterday in Imax (epic) and thought it was fantastic. Considering seeing it again which I haven't done for any movie in a long time. It just deserves the big screen.

My central criticism is that I think it should have been two movies. There was a bit too much exposition and storytelling - either through the prison section where the doctor and the other dude talk about the mercenary story, or Talia's bit at the end where she explains her entire motivation and personal history rather than pushing a goddamned button... I was reminded of Ozymandias on that one.

Basically, had they made this two normal-length movies they would have had more time to explore Blake's background, more time to develop Catwoman's character, more time to do Bane's backstory properly (seriously, show, don't tell), more time to develop a love interest between Tate and Wayne so the end hits even harder, maybe more Liam Neeson scenes, and more time to establish the atmosphere in dystopic Gotham under anarchy-Bane-law. All in all, the pacing would have improved. And they would've made a hell of a lot more money.

But it was still pretty great as it was.

In the football game at the stadium the Gotham team was playing Rapid City. I'm not going to make a big deal out of it or anything, but it's kinda a big deal.

Loved it. however, I felt like it was opening a new storyline moreso than closing one. All I want now is to see the Batman, Robin, and Catwoman trio do their thing.

i thought it was pretty awesome. Also thought that the last one was better for sure. only thing i would have changed with this one was a bit more batman kicking ass and i didnt like how the chick who was his girlfriend was given that whole back story and turned out evil and shit, shes doesnt suit that role at all imo

yeah thats what I meant, the steelers played the team, Hines Ward returned the kick, his name is on the jersey. Under armor must have paid so much for all of the product placement in that scene.

I knew that cop was Robin when the previews came out. Looks like a Robin. Movie was good, Ending was good. I stayed away from this thread for so long because I was waiting to see it.

I dont think they should make another, though it would be pretty sick to have a batman, robin, and cat woman film.
