imovie idvd question

This may be a stupid question, but I don't know anything about computers so..

For anyone here who has imovie or idvd...

Is there anyway I can copy a movie, like take 1242 and copy it on to my powerbook and then reburn it?


By the way, this isn't so I can make copies for my friends, I want to take my favorite segments from each ski movie and make a movie just for me, and do some other stuff.

yeah i dunno about mac's too much but i know their is software called DVD RIPPERS that extract the .iso image off the dvd onto your computer. then find a program to convert the .iso image to a viewable format on the computer. or just burn the .iso to a new dvd.

if it become too big which usually it is for some reason, use dvd shrink to compress the ripped .iso

copy the DVD to the hard drive, the past it into a blank. that should work.

you shouldnt need to use imovie or idvd, which by the way suck. so, if anybody has final cut, i'll gladly take a copy

ok, you can't just copy a dvd straight to your hard drive, they are encrypted. get a decryptor, also called rippers. the best (and free) one for mac is 'mactheripper'. search for it. once you got that, you rip the files to a folder on your comp, and they need to be processed and made into a disc image, so get a free program called dvd2onex and process the VIDEO_TS folder that was made by mactheripper. make sure to click the make image option. when it finishes, open disk utility (Applications>Utilities>) and burn the image. voila, perfect dvd movie, on one disk. message if you run into problems. i'll help you out, but it's pretty simple, it should work fine for you.
