Here's my question:
Over the past couple of months I've started to realize my interest in portraits. In order to feed this interest i began researching equipment in order to build a studio. So I just picked up my first strobe, an Alienbee B800 (thanks jamie :) ) and I am loving it so far. Would I be all set with just another B800 (320 watts for those who dont know) and a couple speedlights for hair and backlight? or do i need a more powerful main light and use the B800s as fill lights?
Also, I need to figure what I'm going to do with these strobes as far as modifiers go. Softboxes just seem ridiculously expensive. After a couple suggestions from internet friends, I am leaning towards the Paul C Buff PLM system (
http://www.paulcbuff.com/plm.php ). Which one should i get for indoor/outdoor portrait use?
Lastly, other than a roll of white paper background, what should I pick up for backgrounds? Muslin?
My end goal is to set up a collapsible studio in my garage for taking senior portraits next spring as well as family portraits.
