i bought a pair of squire schizos with a 90mm brake. but i want to get some chronics (92 mm waist) will i have to spend the extra 60$ to get new brakes or is there someway to avoid this?

just bend them. you may just have to play around until the fit together nicely

I'll be doing the same just getting griffon schizo's. Everyones right you can bend them but, sometimes the brakes will catch the ski and not release. So just be cautious when your stepping into em because my buddy who bent the brakes on his nordica zeros lost one of his skis up at stowe early season this year. Got off the gondola, put his ski down and watched that thing go into the tree's haha. So funnyyyy, so to answer your question, yes it will work, but keep an eye on it because you dont wanna lose your ski lol.

Go to a good shop and they can bend them.
Once you grow up, quit buying marker royal line and get something better. The schizo griffon is what gapers use on rental skis. At least up grade to a standard griffon for better control. If your a good skier you shouldn't need to constantly move your boot point. That's something beginners think they need.

EXAMPLE: Rossi/dyns/look or atomic or salom. Any of these three brands will do better that markers royal  line bindings.


Warning: this a personal experience preference.

Is there anything specifically wrong with the schizo griffons? I own some dynastar and rossignol bindings and some marker griffons and while they all seem to work just fine I love how lightweight the standard griffons are. For that reason I bought some another set to put on some cheap jib skis I bought during the summers sales.

Speaking of, I have the opposite question. I was able to find some griffons $50 cheaper than everywhere else but they have 110 brakes. How much of a problem is that going to be on an 85 waist ski?

This is what I did when I bought my Line Anthems a few years back. The shop just bent them and they worked great until I snapped them off by landing switch.

schizo's are heavy as fuck. its the griffons mounted on a plate that has three cm's of track each way, along the whole binding, which adds a lot of weight. the regular griffons are fine though

thats pretty wide for a 85 mm ski. i tried to do something like that once, and it didnt end great. sent it off a side booter into some trees and my brakes managed to hook together in the air. slammed into some smaller trees and it hurt like shit. also they can drag and will be significantly more prone to catching riding switch. buy them and either trade them (im sure somebody on here would want wider brakes) or use some of the money you saved to buy new brakes. also sometime shops will have some extras you can trade out with them

its better to be really close to the waist measurement, even if the waist is five or six more mm than the brakes

having brakes too big is terrible, they catch on eachother

The schizo series is pretty much a full demo binding.
The binding it self is not mounted to the ski. Its on a plate that's mounted to the ski. Meaning it will not have as good control compared to a binding mounted to the ski directly.

 Can you ski with it? yes but I dont like the of control of a demo binding. Feels too loose for me.

Now if your just using them as back up's or lending them to friends, then keep them as is. They will work for the purpose. If your planing to use them every day you ride and shreding on them everyday, I would seriously consider a  binding that can be directly mounted to the ski. Not a demo binding. A regular binding will let you feel more in control and stable.

Save the money shop will bend them out no problem.

I had the same problem exactly. Just bend them you'll be fine dude. I did it with griffons on my chronics

1. my buddy is a ski rep and found a pair of the schizos in squire in the warehouse but couldnt find a regular squire.

2. ive owned atomic and rossignol bindings. the atomics broke. and the rossis were ok. and i have a pair of look pivots on my pow skis.
