Replying to Questions on questions about Armada, Surface, etc. Help me out!
Wuddup all, coming to the gear talk for the first time in a long time for advice.
I need new skis. I've been riding 08/09 t-halls for 3 years now, and it's finally time to get a new pair before the season starts in a few months.
Here's the problem. Since I first got my T-halls, I haven't paid much attention to skis. I used to be real into looking at skis and stuff, but the past few years I haven't, so now I'm kinda in the dark.
However, I am familiar with what I gotta say to get the best advice so here it goes:
--
I'm 5'6
135 pounds or so
Mostly park, but I like to venture the all mountain.
I really just liked the t-halls because they were flexy yet not noodles, bombproof, and never gave me any problems.
I could get a pair of 11/12 T-Halls for 375 shipped. I heard they're not much different than my 08/09's...but Armada made them slightly stiffer...slightly more this, slightly more that, yadayada...whatever, they still sound pretty good.
However, I see Surface is having a nice sale right now...and I could get a pair of 172CM "No Times" for 200 bucks + ship....now THAT is hard to beat...
I've always liked Surface as a company but never ridden a pair...my brother broke a pair in one day in Windells so that's a little scary...but the 200 dollars is so appealing. Were their 11/12 skis durable? Whatever Surfaces he was riding at Windells was in summer of 2010.
My other question is that Surface says the "Time" series (in which these skis belong) is a "youth inspired" line of skis. Now this may sound kinda dumb...but what are they getting at here? These skis go as big as 182 centimeters.
So I ask NS...what to do...go with old faithful (the T-hall), or try something new (Surfaces)...
Any advice is much appreciated -- Thanks in advance
