Color grading programs/ rodemic sound reduciton

what do you guys think is the best color grading software? Magic Bullet? Color 1.5? I've been trying to find a torrent/ free download for color 1.5 and haven't been very successful if you guys know of any for either software a link would be greatly appreciated.

and on a side note I know if you install ML you can reduce the fussiness of your rode videomic but I'm not gonna install it until i get a 32 gig memory card. But is there anyway to reduce it without installing ML? I have a t2i by the way.

why wait until you have a 32gb card? If i remember correctly from when I put ML on my cards it only took up 6mb. way less than a single picture takes up.

alright i think i might just do it now then. when I get a new memory card all id have to do is just drag the ML files onto my new card right? or do i just have to redo the whole process again

Yes, all you have to do is drag the ML files onto each card, but you need to make the cards bootable in order for them to be read by your camera. follow this guide and you won't have any problems. the title says t3i, but all you have to do is download the 550D version instead of the 600D version, which he explains how to do.

if you find a torrent for color please let me know, i have yet to find one. I just use magic bullet and its pretty simple and effective.

I find that Magic Bullet is great for quickly getting cool color grades, but Color is a much more professional program for actual color correction and grading.

I find that Magic bullet is great if you know what each tool is and know how to work the important ones (Presets are essentially useless so you gotta know each tool). I love color though because of the autobalance button, the only con is that it can get pretty inconsistent.

Best way to get color 1.5 is through torrenting FCS 3 (rather than FCP 7)

Not trying to be mean here but dude, not everyone is gonna spoon feed you information. Literally I typed in "Magic Bullet Looks Torrent" on google, used the first one on the piratebay and it worked perfectly. Just try not to rely on everyone else so much when it's that easy to do by yourself.

ya i looked on the pirate bay but I couldn't find one for final cut pro X but i think i found one on youtube. and I partially bumped this thread hoping for a torrent response for color 1.5

Grab DaVinci Resolve Lite. It's free, and its color tools, color trace, look/LUT management, tracking, and rendering speed are superior to Color. And it's not a discontinued product.

There will definitely be a learning curve, since it's the free version of a high-end professional grading suite. But watch a bunch of tutorials and you'll be set. Then you can start charging $1500 a day as a colorist.

well resolve lite is cutoff on my screen because i guess you need at least a 17in screen for it work and i couldn't find a magic bullet version that would work with FCP X, or maybe i did but it wasn't showing up in FCP X? Sooo if anyone knows any decent color grade systems that will work with a FCP X that would be extremely appreciated.

i dunno I've never looked into it. is it good? how does it compare to programs like magic bullet?

Colorista is free and is the exact same thing as 3 way color corrector except you can't set white/mid/dark points with the eye dropper tool. Magic bullet has colorista in it. If you're using fcp don't even bother with colorista since 3 way is better. Not sure about premiere or other programs though

You probably don't need the features of a dedicated grading program yet. 3-way CC., RGB balance, Broadcast safe, and vignette are all a part of FCP and should be more than enough for learning basic grading.

Hey,

It does not mater what you use its how you use it! If your doing ski films any color wheel whether it be third party like mbl and colorista 2 or straight in final cut or premier will do the trick. Color is about attention to detail and practice. You can get a great image out of just using an RBG curve (if you know how to use it). Look online for tutorials and tips, not new color software. Once you have the basics down and feel you need to upgrade then get a new software. If your not shooting actual cinema movies and just shoot skiing you will almost never need to go out of an RGB curve or simple color wheel!

the 3 wheel color grading tool in FCP X literally doesn't do anything I really just want a program with the 3 wheel tools that actually works and I have yet to find one

Your best bet is the Colorista plug in, or DaVinci Lite. Color is outdated and Magic Bullet is just instagram for your computer.

yeah i tried and well have downloaded both colorista plug in, which i would love to use but excuse my noobness but How do I open the program? Is it supposed to appear in final cut pro X? Does it work with FCP X? I am stumped on how to open it. And I have davnici lite but as i said before I'm on a 13in screen and part of the program is cutoff and Ive yet to have heard a response from anyone on how to fix that if its even fixable.

SO MY QUESTION STILL STANDS. SOMEONE GIVE ME A FREE/TORRENT LINK(safe one that is) TO A DECENT COLOR GRADING PROGRAM THAT WILL WORK WITH FCP X OR A DIFFERENT PROGRAM OF ITS OWN. THAT WOULD BE GREATLY, GREATLY, APPPRECIATED.

So does editing on a cutting table. That doesn't mean there aren't newer and better technologies available.

alright so i downloaded ML and i was wondering how to reduce hiss noise within ML? oh and also (I'm on a t2i) there is a setting to turn off lcd display on the ML settings but whenever i time-lapse it never turns off. anyone know how to turn off the lcd screen while time lapsing? thanks.

tried for both. literally couldn't find a solution that would work for the lcd not turning off while taking a time-lapse. The turn off lcd screen after # of seconds tool on ML didn't seem to work and as for the noise reduction i didn't look too hard for that one and I'm hoping for a quick response here on NS

but ill keep looking on google if it makes you feel better
