I know there are some private pilots on here. My check ride is Wednesday and i am really nervous. Any advice or stories about your own.

I am taking it in a 152 this one to be exact

I had the opportunity to learn to fly but, like the dumbass kid I was at the time, I put it off too long and now it wont happen until I can find the time/money myself. Probably my biggest regret. Enjoy dude.

My grandpa is a pilot. He built a ultralight a couple years ago then crashed it while running some tests. He dropped out of the sky an hit a tree in the middle of a field which saved his life. Flying is sick, just be careful.

David Lesh is a pilot, and has a Piper Lance. Ian Cosco and David Levin both have Cubs, Travis Durtschi has a 172 (or 182?). Battersby took lessons but never finished. Wiley Miller is in the process of getting his license....

never had my license, or taken any lessons, but my brother member is a pilot flying embraers, and back when he was instructing/in school he took me up a few times.

First time i was younger, and he and his roommates thought it would be funny to get me drunk the night before. And since he was practicing for a test, we had to do some spins and sharp banks. Ended with me throwing up in the back of a cessna.

Best time was in piper seneca. Flew all over the place for a few hours, and he let me take the controls. Incredible feeling.

Be warned though, if you want to be an airline pilot. It's a rough life unless you absolutely love it. Fortunately he seems to. But he's gone across the country probably 5 days a week.

All he's talking about is getting a PPL in a Cessna, which is lightyears away from being an airline pilot.

oh i know, but I'm just issuing that warning now. The sooner anyone that has even the slightest hope/desire to be an airline pilot realizes it, the better.

i really have no real flying experience but i got to take off my friends families jet and fly it for a little bit and it was probably one of the coolest things i've ever done. flying through the clouds was such a cool feeling

I have my PPL and will be taking my instrument rating checkride pretty soon.

My advice for the checkride is just relax and fly like you have been trained. The examiner is not looking for you to be perfect, but looking for you to be a safe pilot. Don't be afraid to go around if you feel your landing isn't going to be good. That shows the examiner you have good judgement. Remember to perform clearing turns before every manuever. I believe it's a checkride failure if you do not do them. Lastly, try not to let one minor mistake get to your head. Try to put it behind you and complete the rest of the checkride to the best of your ability. The best feeling is going to be when you taxi in and the examiner says "Congratulations, you are now a Private Pilot!"
