I find that I'm not able to soak hard landings as well center mounted. It could just be a technique issue I specifically have, I'm not the greatest park rider. I find that when I'm mounted farther back I can bend at the waist as well as my knees to soak extra impact, whereas center it's purely knees, bending at the waist will make you weighted too far forward.
Just going down the mountain however, doesn't take too long to adjust, day or 2 max, like everyone was saying, and it does make switch riding way nicer.
