Looking for an Extremely Critical Critique (please)

I don't often offer my work up for critiques, as I have yet to feel confident enough with a final product in a while.. However, I've been trying out some new ideas and want to see what people think, so I'm looking to get some insight.

Please, if you feel inclined, offer an extremely critical critique. I am not looking for a "that was terrible" or "that was great" - please give explanations on your points, so I can look at improving and and moving forward.

First, a few acknowledgments on my behalf about the video:

- Major audio issues in the talking portion - extreme peaking and left pan

- The track is intense - likewise is the piece as a whole

- The video was created for a party outfit "Rage Gloucester" to promote their upcoming events. This was their first real event and the turnout was relatively small (to work with from a video standpoint).

Overall, the biggest thing I noticed is its length. The content looks nice but isn't gripping enough to me to warrant a 2 1/2 minute edit. There's a reason 60 second TV spots are the standard promotional format.
I think you could afford to lose a lot of the medium shots on the dance floor to tighten the cut up a bit, and spend more time on the shots with a subject of focus (like the guy walking through the house, the close up of the DJ, and the hands making a heart at the end of the edit).
Your cut flowed with the music really well and I dig your overlays at the beginning.

Same thing inb4, I think it should've been a bit shorter. I liked the overlays in the beginning it was sweet. The snapping between all the clips, I think shouldn't have gone back and forth between the same clips a couple of times. Try and add different more exciting clips in with the others. Other than that I think it was really solid, I liked it a lot! Not really sure if you understood what I said, really confusing how I put it.

I really liked the whole feel of the edit, but it was a bit long and I kinda got bored near the end of the edit. Otherwise really solid, however I wanted to punch the kid wearing the wife beater with the words "Just Do Me," hopefully that wasn't u.

Thank you all for your responses! After watching it again, I can definitely see where you are coming from with the length - I simply didn't have enough interesting/different content to warrant the length. I agree after the walkthrough shots in the middle, there is nothing different for the rest of the piece. I think it may have been stronger had I cut it after that timeframe.

SO, I recently ran into a similar situation with limited content and decided to go the opposite direction with editing. Rather than try to stretch the piece, I approached it from a promotional perspective and decided to push a lot of quick cuts into a shorter timeframe and leave the viewer wanting more (that is the intent at least).

I really enjoyed both of them. I am a bigger fan of the Le Castle Vania video. Really good promotional video. Showed the whole show nicely with great shots of everything. Solid cuts and overlays. Great work!

Thank you! Currently finishing up another longer piece from the same festival. I think some of you may think it came out a bit long again.. not sure, but I tried to keep the pace moving along throughout. I'll post it when it's live.
