i have seen this before...funny stuff indeed but it is not google. 'Im feeling lucky' just send you to the site that would pop up number 1 when you searched that so it just sends you to that page. but im sure you knew that

Time to ruin the magic.

It's pretty easy to mess up Google. It cares more about what people think about a webpage than what is actually on the webpage. So if a few hundred pages link to that page with the words 'weapons of mass destruction', google thinks 'Aha, this page must be THE page about weapons of mass destruction so I'll put it on top'. If a few thousand links to Bush's bio have the words 'miserable failure' in them, then google thinks 'This is THE page about miserable failure, up it goes!'.

If we got a bunch of people to link to here with the words 'green cheese destruction', NS could be the site that comes up when you search for those words and hit I'm feeling lucky.

ya Quazbotch has it right. to add on, basically it counts the number of links that say what you searched for and the page that has the most links to it that says what you searched for is a big factor in the search. or atleast that is my understanding.
