What are you guys seeing in parks these days that you think are the new fads

ie: stair set take off's/ landings, close out rails, side hit wall rides

Just was thinking about how alot of new ideas came around this year and wonder what you guys think where good ideas/ bad ideas that you saw around the country

i see stair sets at almost every mountain i go to. and if they don't have wood or plastic stairs they make them out of snow.

Ya i think im gunna make 2 sets out of wood this year with HDPE plastic over the 90 degree sections of the stairs

agree.

I'm not a big fan, I think they are wasting too much rail for a setup you can really only stall on. I would much rather it be set up as a down or flat bar.

yep, i went to a postseason rail jam this year and they had one of these setup, and it just made me mad because it was a perfectly good rail they could have used elsewhere.

stair set landings are all the rage nowadays anyways.

nah I've seen people come in from the side, slide the flat rail, then hop onto the down. not that i'm a fan of that type of feature, just pointing out that there are other ways to hit it.

its a rail running down fall line and ending with a rail running across fall line kind of in the shape of a L

the flat rail/closeout, closed in/down rail are every where. theyre fun to try and do the whole thing. forward over and down. or forward transfer gap to down.

metal stairs for a landing after rails seems to be popular, i hit one at boulder. did it once didnt fall scared the shit out of me. dont know if i plan on trying that again haha

Close out rails are for real men!
Slush seemed to be really popular in my area this year. All the parks were constructed entirely from slush.

they had one at my hill that they built for some big snowboard comp, a little less angled but with a slight gap between rails and a little quarter on the side for a while. So many kids got wrecked.

Fuck that rail. I wrecked myself so hard on it. You had to use the upper rail as the jump to get on and one of my skis stuck and i ended up landing on the donkey dick on my side. Fucked my hip up and cracked a rib or two. So over that bullshit setup.

I put my ski through the ply of a closeout at stowe last season.. Pretty much turned a kfed into a fs swap front flip out. If anyone saw the hole in the plywood and thought "damn someone fucked up real hard there." yeah that was me. sorry for breaking your toys stowe.

Can't make out the angles in this pic? Also that kicker looks really high?

I've got some good ideas for this winter, i'll post up once the snow rolls around. Also closeout rails work really well when you make sure the close out bit is hittable as well, makes for some creative shit. Reversed closeouts work quite well too.

Its been done...Personally i love the fact that people are doing stairs/closeouts/side ways walls. Sorry you kids want to hit a boring flat rail and try to spin as much as possible. I wish my park crew would stop building 2001 style parks.
