Well finally getting those fat summer paychecks rolling in and its time to get myself a Camera
Going to basically go by 1337's guide
1) I'd be looking to spend around 800bucks. Might be able to spend some more money later on but would want to be able to do the majority of what I want with that if its possible
2) Camera Experience is very minimal. Just those basic digital point and shoot ones. Most technical I've gotten is using the Panorama feature on it haha so yea basically no experience.
3) 0 Gear, Probably will be getting a Gaper-Pro at some point though.
4) What I would like to shoot, love to be able to film some sick shredding mostly big mountain lines and drops. I never really ski park. Planning on lots of touring I see a lot of people are able to have someone just mount a tripod from a snowmobile and zoom in and film from a decent distance that would be nice. Also be nice to take some cool pictures(mountain panoramas, pictures of me blasting through a big pillow of snow etc etc). But yea main purpose is skiing and mountain pictures(summer mountain scrambling etc)
5) I would love to be able to hand it over to friends who have little experience filming, I usually tend to ski with a lot of the same people so if there is a smallish learning curve we could all learn to use it and film each other and what not but nothing that's really technical if that's possible.
6) How I film? well besides occasionally holding the go pro when someone hits a jump I have little experience with that. I'd say I'd like to be able to find a zone set up a camera on a tripod and hike it for a while, be nice if it was good to film a solid line from a distance.(Kind of how steve popovich films some of those gnarly chute lines in his season edit)
7) What kind of computer I have, well I thought it was good but the video card is shit so might just have to get a friend whos good at this shit to edit it haha. My specs are 500gb hard drive 6gb ram. Intel Graphics card don't even know how many mb's it has. It cost me 400bucks so I'm really not expecting it to have much to offer. O and I think the processor has like 2.2 ghz and maybe 2 cores. Sorry not even on my computer right now.
8) I figured cameras like the Canon T2I were DSLR's and that's kind of what I was looking at not sure if i'm completely wrong though.
P.S On my parents home computer we have 2gb ram and a NVIDIA geforce 7300 and 1.8ghz if that would be any better.
So yea what can I get for my money. What compromises will I have to make, should I be buying used or is that to risky. Thanks a lot for everyone's input!
