Google Chrome for iPhones

I was browsing the app store yesterday and saw that Chrome is now available for iPhones Ipads etc. Does anyone on NS use it? Is it work using? what are the actual adavantages of using Chrome instead of Safari on the iPhone. I use Chrome on my PC so I have my favorites and all that stuff saved. I read that it will roll over to my iPhone. But I am just wondering if it is that much better.

looks like it's been around for a while. How have I not known....

(must have implied that they had no support for an iOS program like with their shitty gmail app)

I saw the Gmail app too. Does that suck? Ive got 2 gmail accounts but the mail on the iPhone works just fine for me there..

the reviews are not stellar and there is no support for it. Yeah, the mail app works fine for it and has gmail pre-configured so no real need for one anyways.

Lemme know what you think of chrome when you get it. Lately I have been having problems with it on my PC. Keeps telling me the profile cannot load and certain content might be unavailable. I keep having to delete a data file to fix it. So I am worried they are fucking shit up lately.

I've used it for 5 minutes and it just feels, looks, performs, and works better than safari. 10/10 would recommend it for iOS users.

Update your current version of chrome btw, usually previous versions get buggy/when a new one does they usually update pretty damn fast

yeah, I don't think they update it frequently (as they have their own mobile os, android, and it works fine with mail)

and that is a bug in the early version of the app (not getting notifications)

how often do you have it "fetch new data"? Turn push on and select how often you want it to search for new mail. This will drain your battery more than it probably is. So at first prepare for battery issues. I work in a place where I am pretty much on the phone all day. I have mine push every 15 mins and after a word day I'm at about 40% so its not too bad.

I had the same problem, fixed when I changed that setting.

I have the most recent version. It happens maybe once every few days. Started on Saturday.

BTW you seem very knowledgeable about computers.

chrome is pretty dope. Yeah you can do the same stuff with safari but I use Gchrome at home and am use to it so yeah. Its cool too because you can link up tabs you have opened at home, office etc and access them from your iphone.

ehh, I know a bit here and there about a lot of general computer stuff, but nothing in depth to the point where I'd consider myself very knowledgeable. That said, I'll take it as a compliment! :D

Just messed around with it. Wow. I am impressed. All my bookmarks and pretty much everything is right there. Quick and easy tutorial to show you the basics. Great app everyone get it.

my biggest complaint is not being able to hit the top bar and have it bring you back to the top of the page. safari makes that real nice when surfing mobile NS

This did take some getting used to, I relied on that. And to refresh I just click the words and hit 'go' again since there's no refresh button

I've been using it for the past week or two and I've noticed that it depends on the website weirdly, sometimes it'll bring me to the top but the majority of times it wont, hopefully they'll fix this, and also add a refresh button then it'll be significantly better than safari, as it's just so much faster.

the refresh button is under the pull down menu that is 3 bars on top of each other. Its right next to the book markmark icon.

Yup. maybe they will make some kind of finger stroke that will refresh the page, similar to the way you can switch from tab to tab.

Unless you jailbreak it and have decent knowledge of directories you won't be able to set it to default browser. Apple sure as hell won't help you, unless they integrate it like they did with twitter and like they are doing with Facebook

Does anyone else have trouble making a post when quoting from mobile? About half the time it won't go through and I'll have to retype (copy n paste) my post again. I thought chrome might fix that but no dice

Is anyone else finding 90% of the time when you click a link and when it opens to new tab it doesn't open the page? It's just saying about:blank at the top
