How do you cut down ski poles

I just got  some handmedown Scott Series4 P4 ski poles perfect condition but way to long how do you cut them down and still make them look good?

Take off handle...take hacksaw and cut to desired length....put handle pack on.

1. Lodge pole grip firmly in anus.
2. Clench buttcheeks very tightly
3. Pull very hard on pole.
4. Grip is now off pole.
5. Cut pole down
6. Shove grip back on

Get the handles off and cut to the length u want..then wedge the handles back on! Super easy.

best device is a pipe cutter. get em at any hardware store. just hacking it off can compromise the shape of the pole and may or may not let the handle have a snug fit (or even maybe too snug and won't come off again, seen it happen haha)

Ok, legit steps here.

1. Fill an ice cream pale up full of the hottest tap water you can get.
2. Stick the grip in there and let it soak for a few minutes.
3. Pull on the grip like a motherfucker.
4. Repeat steps 1 --> 3 if you are having a tough time removing the grip.
5. Once the grip is off, mark the desired length on the naked pole using a sharpie and measuring tape.
6. Cut the pole to length using a pipe cutter, hacksaw, or bandsaw.
7. File the burrs off the freshly cut end of the pole.
8. Slide the old grip back on, you may have to use a rubber mallet to pound it back on, don't pound too hard.

^You can use dishsoap or wd40 to help the grip slip off as well. Rest as stated above

When I worked at a bike shop we always used hairspray when putting grips on/off handlebars. It's slippery when it's fresh but dries tacky and helps keep the grip in place.

Most shops will only charge about $5 to do it. Then you know the pole wont get bent, you don't have to worry about getting them slightly different lengths.
