Hi guys, just wanted to let y'all know I've been posting up some pictures on Facebook from the Timberline summer terrain park - the only public park on Mt. Hood in the summertime! i guess im a complete moron then. i always hiked the park at stevens and no one ever said shit about it so i just assumed it was the same at other places. sorry i dont have the vast knowledge that you posess given your numerous accomplishments in both skiing and life in general. any pointers on how to be you?

its called common sense. now my real question is, did you just hike up? or do you mean get on the lift then hike rails? you can obviously do the latter but the first is usually against the law. youre skiing a resort without buying a pass, its like sneaking into a movie, its stealing.

In this case, I believe you are wrong. I think Timberline owns most of the property, not the Forest Service, like many areas. On FS leases, you can hike up as much as you want because it's public land, but if it's private they can kick you out.
Regardless, going into the park anywhere can get you booted because of liability, if nothing else. When you buy a pass, you agree to the liability waivers. So if you're hiking, that kinda goes out the window.

in this sense i definitely understand the confusion here because the actual timberline lodge is supposedly owned by the american public, as is the land around it protected by the national forest service. i work up there and i'm even confused about whats public and whats rlk property.

On another note, whats up with the park not opening till 10:45 today? for the money people pay to ski there, 3 hours of lift accessible park skiing is pretty wack.

I think that they move the public park to High Cascade's lane. So probably after the last High Cascade session.

Soo... back to the actual point of this thread. Anyone have pics/video of the public park currently? I'm headed up there in about two weeks and just want some idea what the park will be like.

I was just there 3 days ago for Session 5 at Windells so I've got some minor insight, keep in mind any of this could change.

1. So the park starts off with a neat little 14-18 ft single halfpipe wall which incorporates rails into the lips and the opposite side where the opposing wall should be. Fun to mess around on.

2. 3 jump line. First jump is a 20 or so. Second jump is a 23-25. Third jump is a 26-30 depending on how deep you take it, but I've definitely pushed 30 without getting bruised up. As usual speed varies drastically throughout the day, especially on these jumps if any. In the morning they're freshly slipped and salted so I'd say you can go quite slow, but by 12:30 I'd pick up the pace a bit and by 2:45 I'd say it's a dead straightline or skip the jumps all together seeing as you usually can't take it to sweetspot regardless.

3. The usual rails are a Dub Barrel Down Flat, Flat Bar, Up Down Single Barrel (BE CAREFUL ON THIS, SUPER GREASED), Down Rail Donkey Dick, Rainbow Box (Super Fun!) and that's as far as I remember.

As far as snow you have to hike about 60-80 ft or so from the trail end to the Timberline Base Lift, but in two weeks the walk could grow by quite a bit, so cheerish your turns.

HCSSC's last session ends on the 12th and my shred dates are gonna be the 16th-19th, think the park will have fully moved by then? is the jump line rebuilt and all that or do you just take over what's already there? can't wait to spin hot laps on palmer :)

the trek is about 300 yards. We just rebuilt the park though for hike set up for the next two weeks.

Anyone been up recently? I was there on Saturday and the setup was pretty dope. Unfortunately they had to doze the pipe which was probably the best ~12ft pipe of all time, but they still had an awesome 3 jump line, 25ft into big 35ft into 45ft really nice stepup. although whoever groomed that shit friday night made some messed up kinks in the lips and should be fired. In any case, just wondering if the jump line is still there, and if they've done anything with the spot where the pipe used to be. big ups to anyone with tha info
