Most Durable Skis

What ski is probally the most durable and will last the longest? I am really tired of skis breaking on me.

in what way are they breaking? and the majority of people will say ON3P. what skis have you had that've broken?

k2 sacrifices lightness for durability and on3p has extra thick edges and bases and are super durable

Durability is highly effected by how well you treat your skis. No ski will have a long and happy life if you leave them out in the elements or in the back of your damp SUV. Detune your edges, notice and address burrs and edge cracks before they get worse. A little time and money spent on repairs and tunes in your garage will go a long way.

this. i have left my skis outside many times from being to lazy to dry off my skis and bring them inside when i get home from skiing, and my edges have rusted multiple times

not trying to thread jack but whenever my edges rust i rub steel wool on them. is that bad for them?

I used to do that, now I use a gummistone, but I'm pretty sure it's fine for them.

My AR6s lasted 4.5 seasons and are still usable, so I can only assume the rest of Armada skis are also bombproof. Picked up some ON3P Jmos last year, and while I only put like 20 days on them, they still look BRAND new. You can barely even tell I've skied them. Not to mention they are absolutely phenomenal skis. I would recommend either.

I always store my skis inside, de burr the edges and gummistone, i just ski alot

I had my edge come out on a pair of afterbangs afette 1/2 a season(40ish days of park skiing) and got some stepups off of warrenty that i dont think will last long. I just dont want it to happen to me again

Well they are actually durable like a skate deck: they don't really snap. But then again, skateboards don't have edges, a base, topsheets, etc.

out of all the skis ive tried K2 is the most durable. People say they are heavy but just get really strong and theyre fine. K2 <3

Anything K2 with a sidewall, and cronics (especially the 85 under foot ones).

Nordica people! Stepdown sidewalls to prevent chipping, and thicker sidewalls than most skis.

Certain new Moment Skis are being made with extra thick base / edges. Some friends don't exactly go easy on them at all, and they are holding up pretty damn well.

I have a friend who had 2 pairs of ace of spades this season and they both had alot of their topsheet come of(4"x2" chucks) and this was in 1 season and another friends who tail split in half for a bout a foots length during a rail jam. Nordicas Suck

my abangs have taken some pretty hard abuse this last half season and have held up for me. the bases are absolutely terrible and slow but i knew that getting into them

From what I've heard, on3p, dps, some 4frnts (think renegades) will all be bomber. If you ask the people on tgr, you'll hear a lot about volkl explosivs mounted with 916s. Those things are tanks.

Fat-ypus Skis epitomize burly. Mine are still perfectly functional after two years for rocks and abuse.

my '08 k2 extremes are about to see another season of fairly hard riding. only thing "wrong" with them is the top sheet chipping, but honestly who cares about that anyway?

AR6 durable? you must be joking. sure the ski might not of broken, but they wear out to being useless in less than 1 season. mine were rockered after 25 days and i'm not that great of a skier. AR7 are ok since Armada have improved their cores in the last couple of years, but the AR6 sucked for durability. fun ski, don't get me wrong, just noodles after a few days.

volkls walls are pretty bomb proof. the new volkl kink has the same construction as the wall but rockered for those that love their rocker

There are many reasons they have a fan club. The fact that ON3P use more durable materials than any ski co I've ever seen AND that they are 100% transparent in sharing their build process are two components of the ON3P commitment to quality that got me to buy into their 2009 pre-sale. Through this season my '09 C&D 193 skis were my go-to everyday rocker while I have destroyed three pairs of other skis that were used much less.

Other brands I can personally vouch for include volkl, head, and dynastar. But I'm over supporting any company that manufactures outside of my home continent, and focuses more on marketing than quality. We are pretty lucky to have such a selection of homegrown bomber skis now-a-days. Remember that every dollar you spend is essentially a vote for that product or service.

Beyond my comment above, relative strictly to personal witnessing of durability, brands I stay clear from include:
k2, nordica, black diamond, line, boone, surface, salomon

bumping this thread back up because I got punisher jibs and I used them for the first time today. 10(very small) edge cracks already. My parents would not buy me skis if these broke so should i start saving now or what. My buddy's got armadas and they look really good but I saw this kid with on3p's today, and they looked truly amazing. Dont know how long theyve been skied though.

Just took my Jeffery's out the other day for some more season shredding and hit more rocks than I wish (they had about 2cm of snow the night before so just enough to hide rocks) and the bases and edges barely have a scratch on them. My volkl a and lines would probably have had a core shot and a ton of chip taken out of the top sheet.
