Video Critique Wanted: Closed to the Public

What's up all, I just recently put together this short "reel" type edit. I tried a few new things in this video, and I'm wondering how other people feel they came out. The two main things I want to be looked at are Color Grading and Shot Length.

Grading is still fairly new to me so it's a work in progress. However, with Shot Lengths, I tried letting each clip play for longer in an effort to get each image really embedded in the viewers head instead of brief glances.

So please everyone let me know how it looks and what to change.

I shot all of this in Westbrook, Connecticut.

The second shot was my favorite. I felt the colors worked and I liked the change in focus, but the second clip was a bit lengthy, got kind of boring after like 20 seconds of just a fence. Shorten that up a few seconds and its perfect time to embed the image in the viewers head.

Felt like there should've been some more shots, everything seemed a bit slow to me. A little bit faster paced. & the fading of the shots, imo the song couldve used snap transitions through the clips. The grading part, I don't really know what kinda look you were going towards but I think the sepia kinda filter seemed a bit too depressing for the kinda video you did. Other than that I thought it was pretty solid!

I was hoping somebody would notice. That shot alone took me a good 10 tries, it was all free hand so when I finally got it I was stoked.

I was hoping somebody would touch on that shot. I agree that it was a little too long, I think I could've shaved off a good 4-5 seconds pre-focus switch and 2-3 after. I just didn't realize it when I was shooting and it's not the type of thing I could've changed easily in post.

Thanks man! It's interesting you say I could've used snap, I had some other friend tell me that when I was editing, but I kind of shrugged it off. I guess I should've listened huh?
I also agree with you on the color somewhat, I did partially want it to have a run down, dark, grungy kind of look, but I also tried to bring out the sky in a different tone than the classic beach blue.

First off sick vibes and sick song choice. The video was good but would have been much better if it were paced faster. Not much faster but just a bit. I understand it was a chill song hence longer shots but a little quicker cuts would definitely add to this.

There wasn't really any kind of unifying theme... or narrative... or anything, really. To me it was just a bunch of shots of random shit that was thrown together with a slow song. Ok, cool, but I wasn't receiving anything from it. Like, I can't say that it was bad, because it wasn't, it was nothing.
