Dying 11/12 hotdoggers BLACK

I know, there are many threads on this but I could not find answers for my questions-

-First off, how do I set it up, do I put it in a big bucket? How much powdered dye do I put in?
-How long do I put it in for?

Ya, Use a bucket big enough for your boots, I like to do them at the same time. Submerge the boots in hot water so the whole thing will dye, if you are using a big tub for both boots use like 4-5 packs of rit dye, Better safe than sorry, and they only cost like $1 each.

And I doubt it'll be a bad idea if you use more rit dye. It'll only get more black. Black as fuck

what'd you clean them with? I've got a bunch of grass stains that only come off if I sand it off.

mr clean magic eraser. if that doesnt get it off then your stains are there to stay.

actually, gonna post pics right now:

QUESTION:

-Do i need to/How do I take the little foam tabs of in the front.

-Do I need to take the little metal eyelit out of the inside of the boot?


So far I have taken apart and attempted to clean them, this is the only part I am dying black. ALSO will the black come out glossy or matte? Thanks.\

I doubt it, the 10/11 when dyed fully and not the buckles or back(just the part that OP is doing) looks awesome, bdog had spray painted 11/12's and they looked really cool though so who knows.

I'm pretty sure(but not positive) people said to take it off the heat, to prevent the plastic melting on the bottom of the pan.

DONT LET GOGGLES BOIL FOR TOO LONG.

Check them frequently, when I dyed my cbars I left them in for what I read online and when I took them out the first layer of foam just fell off. They were shit afterwards.. very uncomfortable.

That would make sense, although im doing boots it seems reasonable to take it off heat as soon as they're in the pot. I thought I remembered another thread where a guy used a big plastic tub so his boots would fit, and just dumped boiling water into it. familiar?

yeah i've heard of that working.
the only heat related issue I could see happening is if the plastic of your boots melts to the bottom of the pot. which as long as you keep an eye on them they shouldnt.

ya i know, I havn't been home and will not be home until next saturday, nor had the time to do it since I created the thread. I will 100% do it early next week though because I have the house to my self all week.

Trust me I want to do this badly also. I will probably die them on monday or tuesday then reassemble them on wednesday and post pics. Might get around to doing it on sunday though. we'll see.

They are in the dye now, going to leave em in for a while and then put them back together after they dry and then I'll post pics of each step.
