Yes it is cheaper and more convenient, but from the results I've seen I think that true B&W chemicals produce a cleaner neg.

It sounds good if you don't mind the grain, or you're not too worried about how the photos turn out..

Yeah, the grain is definitely funky. I fell like I'm going to end up trying this in the darkroom at camp, we don't exactly have access to real photographic chemicals in the middle of nowhere, Ontario.

I did a little research, and there are some additives and brands of coffee/whatnot that produce finer images without remotely as much grain. They take longer to develop, but they work quite well.

I'm probably going to start using it more often, due to the fact that the local lab in town is REALLY expensive. They do a professional job, but holy shit.
