How to save money on hood trip

Hey guys, Im planning on going to hood from the 22nd to august 1st.

Im trying to figure out ways so this doesnt cost us as much.

price list goes as follows: we are 3 so anything that can be devided, has been.

Plane: 700
Car 200
Tickets 660
Room 250$

food is not included in there. Im wondering if you guys have any ideas or tricks to make this cheaper. Im not 25 so the rental car is a bit more expensive.

did it last year... we live in montreal, its normaly a 5 day trip, we did it in 3.

I dont have time this year to be driving 6 days, I need to be back at work quickly.

you know on a Friday or Saturday their gonna have at least $200 in the register. So there's money for groceries and booze for a week in a one stop robbery.

Camp instead of staying somewhere, and hike some or all of the days up to the Palmer lift and just lap that, I don't think they check tickets up there. Not sure what the snowpack is looking like right now, but the park might be up on Palmer by the end of July. Not likely with how much snow they got, but if not you could hike rails and do fun laps.

im considering the camping thing. the only spot I know is the free camping stop near govy but isnt that maximum 2 day stay or something like that.

any other spots to suggest?

Find a river and that's a solid spot, or so it appears in most webisodes.

You probably could base your entire trip off of TC episodes honestly

The airstrip at the snow bunny turn down to trillium lake is pretty much stay as long as you please...lots do.

it's good to move spots every week or 2 because I believe the "limit" is right around the 2 week mark? may be wrong there...

I just went for a week and had a blast. had 4 different camp sites all chillen together drinkin everyday after the hill. It's deffinitely a good time.

Go up to the bar in govy right across from the hcsc skatepark...called Charlies... 2 dollar pbr tall boys. tons of plug ins to charge your shit up if needed.

poach the timberline lodge for swimming, hot tub, and showers. Literally walk in with your swimsuit and towel on and ready to go and you literally look like a guest staying there. one of the guys at the strip we met was shit faced trying it and told us he walked past the front desk people 4 or 5 times cause he continued to get lost trying and they didnt say a word.

Definitely check the sunset at trillium lake on a clear day...sickest sunset I've yet to see in my days.

If you can't get a rental car, rent a Uhaul truck. You can rent F-150s with soft tops on them. I met some kids in Govy that were doing that.

Don't get a room. Camp at the airstrip but don't be an asshole and leave trash everywhere.

Poach the shit out of Timberline Lodge.

Eat oatmeal, and ramen.

sick! thanks for the swimming tips! Im definately doing that. good place to take a shower once in a while also since we will be camping.

I think were going with the camping idea.

hike the the hill, you can see the park from the parking lot and nobody will call you out if you hike up to it. a lot of people do it. its not that far at all...and i got on the lift all day without them checking my pass.

Camp at airstrip (no maximum stay) bum a ride from the airport to there and back (im sure some hoodrats would drive for one payment of $200).

only eat hotdogs (duh), poach the timberline lodge hottub (fun and activities). Ask people if they're going to finish their food in the lodge (another duh). buy and drink only water.

Walk into hotels that have free continental breakfast and just eat and stock up on donuts and shit. They don't ask about If ur staying there or not At the breakfast

Yep, National Forest camping duration is 2 weeks per spot. So you could camp two weeks, move like 50 feet, and camp two more weeks, and so on. As long as you aren't building huge fires, setting up an obvious loooong term shanty, and just being general assholes, the rangers don't give a shit.

Rather than being a dick poaching the showers at the lodge, just bathe in Trillium. Way more scenic.



As tempting as it may be, don't stay at the actual National Forest campgrounds at either Trillium Lake (expensive) or near Timberline Lodge (also expensive, and gets quite chilly most nights). Just stay at the airstrip, as mentioned.

Don't be stupid and even try to poach, Tline loss prevention doesn't fuck around, trust me I work with them, camping at the airstrip is definitely a cool spot, and my roommate stayed at a rad spot up the 32 road when we first got out here.

didn't catch this first time around, but camp at the Airstrip. you can stay there as long as you want, just make sure you don't leave anything you care about lying around while you're gone.
