Park poles becoming too short?

Just watched this video that was posted on my FB news feed and saw that these kids poles are extremely short, do kids this days actually use poles that short?

no, I wear poles because it feels wrong to have nothing in my hands while skiing. and I never really use my poles so why would I get longer poles?

poles that short have no function whatsoever besides maybe comfort. there is a line to be drawn. I never use a pair of poles that is too short to be of use when im actually skiing, it just defeats the point of them for me

They're also both 10 years old and like 4'6"...

But one day at keystone last year I saw someone using poles that were like 1 foot long and he looked like a fool trying to use them in the lift line.

The optimal length for me is long enough to be able to push off with my palms. Those poles look a little too short. If he wants something to carry he should just ski around with two handguns.

i'm 5 10 and my poles are like 36". they are still functional outside the park but are also short enough to not get in the way

Long poles (read: normal sized poles) look ridiculous in the park these days, but that's pushing the other end of the spectrum pretty hard. If i saw somebody with those poles in the lift line I'd think they were using them as a joke.

may poles are way too short but i only place my hands on top of the grips instead of using them like youre supposed to. So i think thats adds to the shortness.

Same here.  But I have realized how other people view short poles.  I was on a skiing trip with my cousins who only ski like twice a year, and I forgot my poles at home.  When I went into the rent shop I ended up having to get poles out of the 6-7 year old size bin, and the guy kept laughing at me.

i have short poles because i use my grips like that. I dont use the grips like that because my poles are short. I get better leverage when i put my hands on top.

i was at a race this last season and there was a kid going full henrik with his 10 year old buds and he had poles literally 10 inches long. right as he got off the lift he tried to push and he looked like a total retard

Being able to hold the grip and just stick it in the snow without really bending over is just right. Helps if you need an emergency push.

..And goddammit the reason I use short poles is so they don't get in the way when I'm doing sketchy shit. They're there when you need 'em and not when you don't. Plus if I bend over in the lift line I get to flash whoremongers from Aspen and pretend it was an accident. Fuck you Children of NS for thinking everything needs to be a clone... And other stuff !

I just like 80cm poles, if I stretch my arm it hits the ground, I think that's perfect I can still use em but they don't get in the way. And for the record no poles is not steezy at all, you can maybe pull it off if you have incredible style on your own, but if not don't.

I use poles that fit just right. So if i want to go from park then to some moguls I can with out losing performance. I do admit though it does look kinda gay having longer poles in the park.

I use pretty short poles, but in my local ski resort there are kids, who like just cut their poles by stepping on them without any measuring. then they are so short they don't even hit the ground if you stand hands straight, looks dumb as fuck

i know like every park skiers has short poles like maybe 70-100cm but not like 30cm like this kid
