Students Who Bullied Bus Monitor Are Punished

The four middle school students who were videotaped tormenting their adult school bus monitor learned today what their punishment will be.

The Greece, N.Y. Central School District said in a statement that all four boys will be suspended from school for one year. They are also barred from 'school and regular bus transportation.'

During that year, the boys will be educated at the district's Reengagement Center, described as an "alternative education program [that] keeps middle school students on track academically while providing a structured opportunity for students to take responsibility for their actions."

Each of the seventh graders will be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will be enrolled in a bullying-prevention program.

An online appeal for funds for Klein pulled in more than ten times the targeted amount. The Canadian man who started the appeal said he was hoping to raise $5,000. The fund quickly rose to more than $650,000.

Klein has also been offered a trip to Disney World by ABC's parent company, Disney. Southwest Airlines has offered to pay for the flight.

But one problem:


She gets bullied and is offered an all expenses paid for vacation? Kids and adults all around the world are being bullied to the point of suicide. A couple of douchebag seventh graders harass her and she gets to go to Disneyland for free?

If someone could explain why she gets such special treatment, +k. I'm sort of confused.

wtf? I mean don't get me wrong, those kids were being assholes, but that is stuff that you would hear at every elementary school across the country. The only difference here is that it was an adult being bullied. And really this should have done much less emotional damage to an adult than it would to a kid.

Usually the bully gets no punishment and the kid getting bullied certainly doesn't get almost a million dollars.

Its most likely the fact the kids bullied her, filmed them bullying her, then uploaded it to youtube for the whole world to see, thats why she's getting this done for her because people were able to see what happened and felt bad for her.

There was the part about one of the kids saying " "you don't have a family because they all killed themselves."

Her actual son had in fact committed suicide 10 years earlier.

that type of shit would fuck you up no matter what, adult or child.

it's brought it and kept it in the international media spotlight for a while now, it's helping put it out there that there is a problem and a little bit more has been done now to prevent it occuring in the future

It's a respect thing. She was harrassed, talked down, and abused. She tried to stand up for herself and was told to "shut the fuck up". It's different than a kid getting bullied. Kids are taught to stand up and defend themselves against others. She tried to do the same, but was overpowered (so to speak) those little shits. Kids being bullied by other kids is nothing new, same goes for elderly abuse. It's all disrespectful. This case was more so the amount of abuse she took, and the extremity from the kids. I also don't know why people are so shocked that she's receiving the support. The world loves to get together and help out someone. It happens everywhere. It's just a shame that it usually only happens to isolated cases that grab media attention.

i love the punishment so much. a fuckin year is amazing. but somebody clarify for me - does this mean they're essentially held back a year due to the suspension, or from what I read in the article does it imply that they'll complete their school stuff at another location, and just basically be banned from school for a year?

because if they're held back a year due to suspension, that's freakin awesome and i have no sympathy for those little scums

While i agree that the kids were little fuckwads who i would enjoy punching, i think that the bus monitor shouldnt get 650k fucking dollars, i mean isnt the bus monitor supposed to stop this kind of behaviour? Shes an adult for gods sake!

Retarded punishment.  Those kids were being dicks but they were also being kids.  I worked at a sleep away camp for two years and I've witnessed worse shit than that on a daily basis. 

Are you kidding me?  A 65-year-old cried because a bunch of kids where talking smack to her.  If your an adult supervisor for children who can't stop yourself from being 'bulllied' than your in the wrong profession.  She should be fired.

Maybe, but I think a 30-45 year old would have also shown a bit more respect. I've seen kids like this everywhere. They'll talk shit to elderly people in public, the moment someone middle aged steps in, they just shut up.

wow I didn't know that. I wonder if the kids knew that. I can see how brining up something like that could make a mom just break down. I only ever watched the beginning where they were calling her fat and poor and whatnot which is pretty standard bullying.

Kinda stupid that if she had have smacked that kid it would be her who was getting in shit for hitting a child.

I also don't think a 1 year suspension is that bad as long as they are not being held back a year. I think more bullies should get this. Kinda like a super strict school where bullies go to get some sense knocked in them.
