Powder ski for my sister

Hello all,

I received an email from my parents awhile back, and they were asking me about options for a new powder ski for my sister. I drew a blank, and only gave a few options. I'd like more.

The stats
- 13 years old
- 5'3" (or so)
- I don't know her weight
- Skis at Kicking Horse, BC.
- Racing background

She can handle the mountain, knows how to ski everything. This year, I want to get out with her a few days and teach her how to ski more aggressively.
She needs a ski to do help her out first.

Her ideas are
- Line Pandora (my mom skis them too)
- K2 Misdirect

I've recommended
- ON3P Caylor (Lite option maybe)
- ON3P Vicik ( Although she might want something fatter)
- Moment Night Train (can't remember the women's model)

I've also told my family that she doesn't need a women's ski, but I don't want to see her on a grom ski.

I'd love to hear some input, if you are going to suggest a ski, some justification as to why would be appreciated.

have you thought about atomic blogs? 110 underfoot is plenty of float for someone her size and will still be plenty when she grows in the next few years. they are also prety soft and forgiving so they would be no problem to throw around in the trees and what not.

IMO the Caylor Lite would definately be worth a look into.

I'll have them head into town and check out the options. I don't go back to Golden (let alone Canada) until mid July, so I'll see what they have/talk to shops. Maybe I can order something in from Darkside or so. I also think that the Blog is a great idea, I'll have her look at it. Thank you. MOAR INPUT!

The salomon Rocketes may be a great ski for her. They have the honey comb tip and tail, so there one of the lightest skis out there. This could be good for her as she is still growing.

The Rockete 115 is the equivalent of the Rocker 122, and there is also a Rockete 92.

same construction as the big boys skis. if she's got a racing background she'll probably appreciate a little metal in the ski

I know last year they didn't have a Caylor lite in the 171 although they may be able to make you one if you preorder. I wouldn't look at the Vicik as it's a pretty damp ski and I suspect you want something more playful.

I've heard great things about the Moment's women's skis. The Bella has a solid flex to it but would be more of an everyday ski (although depending how light your sister is she may find 106mm gives her all the float she needs). I haven't seen anyone on the Reagans yet but I suspect they would be of similar caliber.

You can dig around on skidiva for some reviews of women's skis such as the Missdirected and VJJ. The posters tend to be middle-aged women but a number of them know what they're talking about and take the time to demo a number of skis each season.

Thank you Paige, I'll have them check the site out. I've given them options, but haven't heard back on a decision. I'm thinking she's in between the Pandora, and the Millenium. She wants a powder specific ski, not an all mountain. So something above 108. Thanks for all the input

I know you said no grom skis but the Line SFB Shorty might be worth a look. Basically a shrunken version of the actual SFB, not some cop-out kiddies half-baked version.

Nope. No SFB shorties. If she's going a Line ski, it's the Pandora.
