Best All Around Skier in the World (AK + Park) = Candide

Who is the best All Around Skier in the world that can kill it in AK just as hard as at X Games?

1 - Candide
2 - Chris Benchetler
3 - Sean Petit
4 - Dane Tudor
5 - Mark Abma


They need to have more competitions like the Red Bull Cold Rush with jibbing and big mountain to determine it.

too bad you can't have a contest like mountain biking's Red Bull Rampage.

basically, a couple of organizer built features and then you build your own lines in a gnarly area. shows the best of the best in the big mountain and slopestyle mtn bikers

not at all. Cold Rush is a series of pre-built features with one line.

in Rampage, the riders are given a zone and can use features they built themselves or massive features the organizers built. there's no determined course.

something like supernatural for skiing would be better than cold rush

Good list.  Agree, Tanner and Sammy both deserve to be up there, but Sage does not.  Benchetler is damn underrated though.

it's pretty hard to argue this list. I'd put it in a little different order:

1. tudor
2. candide
2. tanner
4. sammy
5. delorme

As much as I wish McNutt could be in this list he just isn't up to par in the park.


If i were to add a couple more

Duncan Adams (really surprised no one's said this yet)
Parker White (^)
John spriggs
mike douglas (it had to be said)

Delorme? Really??  Dont get me wrong, I love the dudes style (I spend so much time rewinding bits of his segments to watch certain tricks over and over) but you cant put him on the same level as Candide, Tanner, Tudor or Sage when it comes to big, burly lines.

What about Tanner Rainville. I've heard from multiple people that he is easily one of the strongest skier in the game in all aspects plus he's been around forever.

Delorme is damn good at deep pow and park, but all afore mentioned skiers can kill anything from pillow lines to rails to jumps to big mountain terrain. Find me a video where delorme skis big mountain. And to the first east coast kid who thinks powder=big mountain, it does not so please do not reply with a fucking video of him skiing powder along with your 12 year old rant.

Because skiing pow jumps makes you a better skier?

I'm sorry but anymore with today's skis skiing pow "jumps" or BC booters isn't what it used to be.  If you're tricking natural terrain like pettit and the rest of the above skiers then it's different but bc "booters" are just a park jump in the bc with a powder landing and bigger skis.

YES I know it takes significantly more skill to hit these but I don't consider it big mountain skiing whatsoever.

Then again I consider big mountain skiing shit like TGR and FWT, so who knows, maybe I'm WAY OFF.

It all depends if you have a timeline involved. If you say throughout their career who is the best all around skier, I would argue for Candide's sake but give Tanner a very close second. Both have all three X-games golds, both have got gnarly over Chad's, but I give the edge to Candide on slaying backcountry and AK style lines. He just skis better than Tanner in that aspect.

All the other people saying best well rounded skier is Delorme or Tudor, man, not a chance. Both of them are amazing skiers, but neither have the kind of results that Candide or Tanner have, although Dane has some good freeskiing results for sure. Same goes for Sammy, one of my favorite skiers, but seriously, not the craziest lines as much as big bc booters and tricks off cliffs. Sage kills all of them on AK, but certainly is smoked out by most of the aforementioned names in park. Seriously, Sage killing it at X-games? Please. I'd much rather see him toss some floaty flat 3's over natural gaps anyway.

i saw sean in the park a ton of times this spring on blackcomb. and while he is a very good skier, hes still got a ways to go before you can say things like that about him. What about seth, dana, ian, and sage?

Despite Chris Benchetler being one of my favourite skiiers, he is a bit out of place being your number 2 here. Switch him with Tanner and its a pretty solid list. There are so many others that could be argued into this list though! Difficult to select a clear cut top 5.

1 and 2 have to be candide and Dane, they're clearly ahead.. But if this is an all-time list then candide has to be better than Dane at all disciplines. Yes, Dane may be able to put down a slightly better slope run than candide these days but candide has gold in all three x games disciplines whereas Dane hardly qualifies. Big mtn is similar, although candide is also on top of that discipline both right now and, arguably, re all time

Dane has an arsenal of probably over 5 different dubs, and now 1 triple.

maybe i'm just fairly unexposed but i've never seen Candide throw down on park jumps or jibs at all like Dane can.


Dane is just on another level, all year I see edits from PC or Breck and he's KILLING IT, sending sick dubs and triples, throwing down on some gnarly urban, and who knows what else. Then movie time comes around and he has a COMPLETELY backcountry seggy in Alaska or BC with a few urban shots.... it amazes me.

there are tons of kids throwing multiple dubs, and when candide was on top of the game i never saw anyone come even close to what he did, the biggest thing that comes to mind was his d spin over chads, and that was super early in his career.
