wow finally just watched this and that was super sick. there is just somethin about a well composed static shot that makes a video seem super polished and crisp. that one of the mountain with the lake reflection was money

Every 5 years, Rouen (France) welcomes an Armada of at least 40 military vessels. Vessels which made pride and history of some countries. Today most of these ships are school or prestigious cruise ships.
I was fortunate to attend the 2013 edition.
I must apologize for the shaky footage and low quality compostion but I wasn't intending to make a quality edit about this event, I wasn't even thinking of making one all together. But here's the most basic and factual video about the Armada which I'd like to share.

SOOOOOO relieved to be done editing this project! Stoked with how it turned out, especially with it being the longest concert piece I've ever shot/edited. I'm also currently compiling a timelapse of the entire post-production process - 45,980 screenshots, one taken every 5 seconds, so just over 63 hours total of post-production.

I see so many people stoked about film. What the hell is the point, unless you're shooting medium format or something? just get a used 5D and save yourself the money.

my big draw was that it's fun. every time i've gotten film developed its been at least a month later and i have since forgotten a bunch of the shots on the roll. it's sparked me to buy my own development chemicals too, it's just a fun and interesting process.

plus a used 5d? wtf are you talking about? all of the film i've bought, 2 cameras, lenses, and development supplies will probably not reach the cost of a used 5d in at least a few years (and that's only if i get more into it than i am).

-film is extremely rewarding since it is such a slower and more extensive process
-It's fun
-relativly cheap
-teaches better technical photographic skills than digital photography
-it's the cool thing to do
-many people try to fabricate a film style using photoshop and such, it's much easier to just use film

1. Process is a huge part of the photographic experience. Film teaches you to know the light before you press the shutter, and because you aren't distracted with incessant LCD checks, it forces you to live in the moment more. As with everything in life, eliminating the "burden" of patience yields an inferior product. And the biggest for me personally: little to no time is required on the computer to produce astounding results (fuck computers).

2. Technologically, film has huge advantages over digital in bright light. Highlight rolloff is graceful and organic, higher native DR, non-logarithmic color casts throughout the tonal spectrum - I could go on for days.
