This thread's to share what you're most stoked about in the photo/film world. I know people are busy and have a lot of ideas that they want to pursue, and just haven't quite had the time yet to make it happen. Hopefully posting some things you want to film will help you to create some time to get it done.

To start things off--

- I just got back in touch with a friend that four wheels and is so sick at it. I already have a perfect song picked out and have been picturing the shots I'll get for the last day. Can't wait to start filming.

- Finally picked up a sandisk extreme pro 32gb 95mb/s SD card for my t2i and no longer have to worry about "filming has stopped automatically", makes me feel so much more confident when filming important things

- Just purchased a 3tb hard drive, so all my shits backed up!

It's sharper, has better contrast, is built better, weather sealed, produces better colors straight OOC, and has a filter size you can actually work into a system. It's not even a question of it being a better lens, because it is in every aspect other then speed. Unless 2.8 is absolutely crucial(not for filming skiing durnig the day), then the tam falls short in pretty much every area. And you can get a used 17-40 for under 500(I did). Not to mention with modern mid to high iso tech looking as good as it does you shouldn't have an issue bumping it up to make up the single stop difference in light. The only thing thing the tam has going for it is the price, which is a completely valid reason to pick it up, but for just a little more the 17-40 IS a better lens for what the majority of people looking for a lens in that length are after. When it is largely going to be used stopped down to 5.6-11, the canon beats the tam hands down. I have compared the 2 side by side on multiple occasions and completely stand by that.

I already modified the mount, and it had to be put up a little even if I put it back 4 inches. didn't think to put it on the bottom because I don't have a way to attach it or a long enough cord, and it balances well like this

Filmed my first ever on hill edit with my new setup yesterday. I am super happy with how it turned out even though I would change a few things after having watched it a few more times now. For filming and editing in less then 10 hours I'm pretty pumped. Good way to send off 2012.

that was really nice!
I liked some of your rail shots a lot, some of the jump glidecam shots in the middle weren't on the same level as the rest of the shots and could have been left out imo

i liked it man. definitely think the rail shots were money and the jump shots weren't too bad but not as strong. my only complaint is your lens was dirty when you were shooting into the sun. other than that it was pretty solid

Damn Brent, that was a solid edit. I wouldn't normally give critique for something so professional looking, but as it was your first, I'll name a few things which I noticed:

• as mentioned above, lens was a bit dirty/unclear when facing towards the sun
• rail shot @ 2:55 seemed slow (i don't know if you showed all rails the same speed, though)
• music choice was very appreciated, it's nice to know that you realise what's appropriate for a ski edit
• skiing was solid, my only complaint was that it only showed one skier
• looking forward to more great edits!

WOW those zoom shots while followcamming are tough to do right, and a few of those were pretty money. Not a lot of people trying those these days. Turned out really well

not necessarily a need, more just an inconvenience that i was trying to make some titles real quick in PS and the shit locked up my computer. 4 gb was slow as mud anyways, i needed to upgrade.

That being said, I have found a way to fuck up converting .mts files. Prior to converting, the clips looked super sick! My other complaint is that canon hdlsr's are far easier to work with (at the exchange of alias, moire, etc.). I guess I'm the devil's advocate when I say I prefer my t2i still haha, far easier to work with.

it's not really that important to convert the mts files (unless you're using fcp i guess).
when you say easier to work with, do you mean while shooting? i've heard nothing but complaints about the gh2's menus and layouts, etc. it's funny because whenever i use a canon dslr for video, i find them extremely tedious after being used to a real video camera

Thinking about holding off on ordering the zeiss 21 and picking up an rx100 first. Would be nice to have a big sensor point and shoot when I don't want to lug all my equipment around. Also would be nice to have a camera with decent video capabilities.

was going to order a 35mm compact, then my grandpa told me he had some stuff I should check out. He is still looking for a few more, but today he gave me a nikon n2000 with a kiron 105mm f2.8 macro lens, and a zeiss contaflex (i think it is a contaflex 3) with the 35mm and 85mm adapters (it uses a leaf shutter), an exposure meter, and an x-ray proof bag for film

what glidecam are you using Bob? that was tight. To get smoother with it, just practice running around your house, your street, everywhere you can with it trying to keep it as smooth as possible and try and track stable objects as you run by them.
