check out silverfish forum, it's like NS but umm more mature and for longboarding. they have an awesome thread where you fill out info on what you want your board for, your size, weight, etc. and they will help you pick one. that is how I chose mine. but um if I were you I would check out a landyachtz 9two5. it's great for carving and sliding but is a little heavy if you want a commuter board. also if you want to slide and carv you will probably need two types of wheels because you don't want to try and carve with slide wheels.

You should look at the earthwing supermodel or belly racer. The supermodel is a great all around board that will be good for downhill/freeride, and it costs less than $100. They're highly recommended over on silverfish.

FLEXDEX

Im getting very mixed signals on what kind of board you actually want. Something that is great for EVERYTHING? thats hard to do but make sure that you do not get a flexy noodle deck

Stiff boards: Handle speed, very responsive (carve well, therefore slide better), just arnet as "Pumpy". They will also be a bit less comfortable to ride on rough roads

Flexy: dont handle speed, arnet responive but usally paired with trucks that have alot larger bushing seats, therfore carve better (degree of truck also is a big factor), more comfortable. Dont last as long (Flex fades, no response)

My recommended setup for a 180lber would be

Deck: Rayne nemesis. Light, strong, responsive, shorter so it has a better turning radius, stable at all speeds (setup dependent), the small drops hold your feet well, so for heavier guy, its perfect.

Trucks: Bear 852's, light, strong, fairly precision for a cast truck. KEY FACTOR, the hanger flips changing the trucks degree from 44 to 52. So in the event you want to go shred some larger hills, you can flip it opposed to tightening you bushings to fuck. Also pick up some venom shr barrels. There is a weight chart online. It will let you get the most out of your trucks

Wheels: 84a LY zombie hawgz, they roll quick (drilled plastic core), slide beyond smooth, last a long time, and are all around very very good wheels

Bearings: Depending on how much you want to spend butttttt just go all out and get seismic tectons, theyre 30 dollars and roll better than my super reds ceramics (won them at a jam)
