Okay I know this is a little random, but my birthday is next sunday. I am wondering if they would let me drink at 12:01am sunday morning down in salt lake. I have heard that a ton of bars in the city won't serve someone during their "power-hour' or until a certain point on their birthday. This sounds completely ridiculous to me being from ohio where they hand out shots like candy, but one of my friends swears that a lot of bars won't serve you. This would absolutely blow being that my birthday is on a Sunday and a bunch of friends are coming into town. I have also heard that park city is a different story. Any info would be appreciated
Jackalope for the cheapest drinks
bourbon has a solid atmosphere and medium prices drinks.
green pig has a decent patio roof thats mellow,
maxwells is where people go to dance and shit,
cheers to you is a mellow bar with cheap beer.
tavernacle is decent, only been there once
twilight is kind of a hipster bar, but mellow.
dick n dixies is an ok bar, wouldnt recommend it.
johnnys on second has decent prices but a very interesting scene
gracies is expensive, definitely a bro crowd
poplar bar is pretty cool, really big and spacious, drinks arent too expensive
then theres, lumpys, beer hive, keys on main, and even more, there are a bunch im missing.
I purely recommend jackalope cause its cheap and its all like skiers/snowboards/skaters but it can get very crowded on weekend, so does bourbon house but its alot bigger, which is my second recommendation. you really just gotta check them all out to figure out what you like. green pig is always mellow on the roof, but its an older crowd. maxwells has been the place to be recently, although ive never been. lots of options.
It's funny... I work at a bar on Main in PC. Everyone from Salt Lake comes up here during the summer while most of us are usually trying to go drink down there. The bars here are fun (though there are only a handful worth going to), but as previously mentioned they aren't cheap and it's a constant sausage fest. I've been enjoying the SLC scene more and more.
The jackalope is a great pregame bar then I recommend Maxwells once you get good and drunk because its a good place to dance but its tough to flag a bartender down for a drink. Its a good combination!
