As a resident of Central London, I'm dreading the Olympics. My commute into university is bad enough without tourists standing around reading maps, standing on the left hand side of escalators, and yelling at bus drivers when said tourist is too stupid to read a map.

That said, I have tickets for the sailing, solely so I have an excuse to get out of town for a weekend.

And yes, it will be wonderful, and the park is looking prime (lol)

Dude I hate to burst your bubble but he is the 79th ranked swimmer that is registered for the 100 Free and the 100th ranked swimmer to register for the 200 Free, given that they only take the top two for each event, its very unlikely that he will make it. Still though, he's probably still wicked good. A kid that I am friendly with at school finished 32nd today in the 400 IM and hes only 16 so im pumped for him. He swims in the 100 back tomorrow and the 200 back later this week which are his better events so hes gunna put his name on the map hopefully

Pretty excited to watch this summer, I know a handful of people competing in track this year. One guy i used to be faster than in highschool is ranked #2 in the world for the 10, 000m. Kinda makes me think I should have stuck with it, but ive had fun skiing and am pumped to see all these people achieve their dreams.

Hate on the top hat all you want, I really could care less. No one gives a fuck what you think, its their style, and they can do what they want. I'm sure there are many people who think all the freestyle skiers in their XXL outerwear look like idiots too but who cares?

Also, maybe you should learn to use a dictionary before you attempt to use words that are evidently too difficult or too big for a moron like yourself to use correctly. The use of the word equestrian in your last sentence was incorrect, not to mention redundant. I will enjoy teaching my horse how to "cha-cha" thank you very much, but I doubt it will ever amount to the same enjoyment you must receive when you are an asshole to people via internet forums.

Every single riding discipline uses dressage in some way shape or form. Flatwork is always necessary, its like trying to run before you can walk. I'm sure I won't get laughed at. Go fuck yourself with a spiked broomhandle.

I used to be until a few years back just before I started University. One of my good friends should have gone but swimming canada's absolutely retarded and wouldn't send a 4 x 200m free relay team that he woulda been on. Anyway I'm really excited to see who between Mike Phelps and Ryan Lochte is gonna take the most its gonna be real close. Lochte's trained like crazy for these games and has put in a lot more effort then phelps from what i've heard

oh my god I'm actually laughing here, NS is at a new level of funny. An enraged debate going back and forth about horseback Olympic events or whatever. I'm dying, hahahahah. Jesus, so worked up.

In other news, I'm excited for the track events. I'm a retired (HS) three sport runner, so interested in watching the running.

Watching Usain Bolt run is literally a thing of beauty. Should be the highlight for me. Goofy-ish compilation video of sprinters but EPIC high def of bolt running.

my judo instructor won a bronze medal in judo at the olympics back in the 90's. don't remember which he competed.

I'm excited for the gymnastics and show jumping. Reed Kessler has always been a little brat in my opinion, but it is pretty cool that she's the youngest person to ever make the (show jumping) team at age 18. A small part of me kinda wants to see her fuck up though, because I like it better when nice people are successful.

I really don't find many sports very appealing in the summer Olympics. I do enjoy the cycling though. Thats basically the one event I look forward to, and the kayaking.

most of the olympic stadiums and facilities stay around for a good while. Usually the host nation uses them for training for future games, hosts other events at them, etc

For my understanding, most of it is permanent. They have a temporary basketball stadium I think? They've built two massive McDonald's, I'm sure those will stay up. And then there is this Click for larger image , which is just a massive broadcast tower.

and in every city that once hosted the olympics, there is usually a neighborhood which was build as housings for the athletes.

this is actually an aspect in the decision of the IOC to award the games to cities. the plans for all the sites AFTER the event. they dont want to create ghost quarters/stadiums.
