Bad call from the ref, probably for "leaving the box" for the kick, which if you watch the footage, she was clearly in the 18m box when she released in. 2nd direct free kick was for handball after it was drilled into the girls during the indirect kick. Couldn't have done anything... their arms were by their sides and it just happened to make contact. Shitty turn of events, oh well. Canada is playing phenomenally well, so much for the "scrappy team" that Abby said they would most assuredly beat without issue.

I'm so proud of how far our girls have come since last year's world cup, they all played their hearts out, and have definitely stepped things up a notch. Amazing performances from all, notably Christine Sinclair with her hat trick. Regardless of the outcome of a loss, I'm still stoked for them to have come this far and played this well.

As a player you can only control how you're playing and what YOU do on the field, you can't control what calls the ref makes or how the other players are performing. Canada played a great game, and I'm stoked to watch them play again on thursday. Really hope Desiree's knee is ok, because that was one of the nastiest hyperextensions I've seen in a while.

i think the first call was actually for the goalie holding the ball for too long before playing it. its technically the rule that goalies can't hold it for more than 6 seconds, but still kind of a b.s. call. and the handball was pretty harsh too.

Yeah it's always a frustrating call when it comes because it is called so inconsistently. I don't mind the rule so much because it is in place to prevent time wasting. But so few refs use it, and even them so to do so at random. Definitely a call that directly led to a couple of my soccer team's losses once upon a time.

That game was awesome to watch. Two teams pushing until the very end, you could tell they were all running ragged by the end of it. That's pretty good for Canada's first semi-finals game ever and they may still come out of this with a bronze.

honesty putting the really hot chicks in bikinis aside, women's beach volleyball is probably the most entertaining women's event to watch. It is fast paced and exciting and they are really good. Beach volleyball is way better than regular volleyball.
