Editing Question

I'm watching all these edits and they have this sick effect, i'm not sure if it's a filter or a transition, it kinda reminds me of a lens flash transition but it's has like red/orange blobs. It's very poplar in edits. If you know what i'm talking about could you tell me what it's called? I have Final Cut Pro and iMovie. Could i create this with either of these programs and/or download it?

it's called a lens flare. I think most editing programs have the effect, but I just downloaded some and use them as a separate layer

I thought they were called film burns. Here's a site that has a few for free . http://www.digitalcinemafoundry.com/2010/02/19/free-film-burns-exclusively-here/
To use them put them on the video track above your video and then lower the opacity to a desired amount on the film burn clip.

yeah he's talking about film burns i'm pretty sure. lens flare usually looks like multi colored circular patters created by pointed the lens near the sun, film burn is the red/orange flashes on the screen.

i haven't come across an editing program that has them built in, but there are a lot out there to download.

that was stupid, they're def. called film burns! Infact, I think I have a few of Will's from his dl folder!

WillStart has an awesome clutter file he took the time to upload, you can just download it and use it as another layer. I'll try to find it for you.
