K2 Recoil vs. Salomon Twenty Twelve

I am looking into a new park/all mountain ski. I have narrowed it down to these two skis. I was just looking for some opinions. Are they durable? is one of my big questions because i will be ridding mostly park on them and small pow days(6 inches or less). Also are they soft or stiff? Thanks for the help.

They both flex pretty similarly (medium-stiff, closer to medium). The main difference you're going to find between the two pairs is that the recoils have very, very little rocker, barely enough to even be considered rocker. It's really just like an extended tip, whereas the twenty-twelve has a very long early rise in the tip and tail, especially for a park ski. It's longer than the rocker on a lot of all mountain skis, however it is pretty low, so it should still have pretty good running length when you roll them on edge. For me, the twenty twelve sounds a bit more fun, where the recoil will ski very similarly to a traditionally cambered ski, just a little bit more loose.

Recoil IMO, K2 is way more bomber than Soly.

Solly's park skis tend to have poor durability but a couple of my friends ride for them and the 2012/Rocker 92s seem to hold up way better than Suspects thats for sure. I found the recoil too stiff personally but I'm only 5'9 140 so keep that in mind. I like a ski with more rocker in general so of the two i'd definitely take the 2012.

Well I have a pair of 2012's mounted whit sth14 driver and I love them. They are medium flex, more on the soft side. But they are stiff when you need them to be stiff, I skied them all year, from groomers,to park and powder, for what we got here. Im a little bit biased because I have killer deal whit salomon, but they are my favorite park ski that I have.

Twenty-Twelves over Recoils any day. Will last you longer and will take you wherever you wanna go. Rocker on the Recoils is practically non existent and they just don't carve into the groomers the way a pair of Salomons do

OBJECTION
K2 skis are heavy for a reason, they are built to last.

2012's don't have the edge armour that ironically has destroyed many of Salomon's skis. I really love mine and glad that I bought the first model year of them. Super durable ski and they're pretty beefy. I find the 171's slightly heavy but I'm a small guy. Still totally worth it though. I'd recommend them, 8/10 would buy again.

Went through 2 pairs of K2 Press in just over 3 months a couple seasons back. "Built to last" is something I haven't experienced with K2

Thats because the Press is K2's pricepoint ski.
All times are Eastern (-5)
