I think this would be super helpful for browsing sell/trade for the most part as well as other forums. I understand that giving users the option to ignore the older sales/threads would create some problems for sellers who are trying to get noticed with constant bumping (I do it to), but it would make it so much easier for buyers to find new content and items for sale.
Outside of b/s/t, this function would be just as helpful in letting users see new content without having to sort through all the bumps.
Ideally, the date/post sorting function would work in four ways. Users could sort threads
oldest thread-newest thread
newest thread-oldest thread
or the same two options for most recent/ least recent post date. This would give more order to the existing bumping system, as well as giving users the option to see the newest content first.
Hope this isnt a repost, or I hope this function doesnt allready exist and ive never noticed.

No.
Let NS be one of the few vestiges of older Internet forums. No editing, no sorting, no VBulletin avatars, none of that bullshit. Just fix the searchbar and we're set.
NS is good Internet when it comes to forums. The Quote option was the last needed requirement and after the fact it's been great, never change.

If everyone thought like that, we'd all be using carrier pigeons instead of telephones right now.
There's nothing wrong with nostalgia as long as it doesn't get in the way of progression.

I dont want any of that, just sorting. I agree with the rest though.

I think that this would be great for the buyers because they would constantly be looking at new stuff (the buyers would have the setting on date most likely) but it would make selling much much harder because people who weren't looking at sell/trade when the person posted their offer would never see the offer so less people would see the offer and less things would be bought. I also think that this may result in multiple threads by the same person selling the same things.
I think that this is a good idea for one side of the sell/trade universe, but would actually make finding good things harder.

I like this idea. IT would cut down on bumping. But then again, if the searchbar didn't suck, you could search "saga anomie" and get results.

Great contribution to this thread! Really killed it there.
As far as sorting goes, its a great idea for BST but I wouldn't think so much NSG or SG.
They're some things that need to be fixed first or added first before they do something like this IMO.

Maybe they could also add an option to delete your thread in BST once is sells or if you decide you don't want to sell it?

Yes, I know, but how many people in BST really even do that?

If we had this in B/S/T forums it could be helpful but in the other forums I think it would be a negative. I mean if a thread in ski gabber is good, most of the time it will be at the top because people will post and read it. If a thread is bad, it dies.

This is really only needed in B S T, and even then you could still count bumps as new when sorting. ITs just when i search Marker Brakes i get 80 results from 2003-2010, none of which are valid. Maybe the option to mark threads as sold when everything in the thread is sold, then you could sort by sold/unsold? Seems like that would work.
