Fastest speed someone's hit a jump

I was thinking yesterday about the average speed for hitting jumps, and really for most nice jumps youre not really going that fast... but from TBC i know chad's (at least that day) needed like 55-60 mph.. does anyone know, or have an educated guess, what the fastest speed someone has hit a jump at is? i suppose im asking about man made lips, but i do remember seeing a video with sage absolutely pinning it at a windlip or something and doing a huge flat

anyway, any ideas? have there ever been any jumps hit that were pretty much at the upper limit of what a normal good skier would consider pointing it (somewhere between 60 and 75)?

i'm guessing the sammy's jump at hood 2 years ago needed at least 50-60mph..and that was one hell of a jump

I think the average park skier is comfortable hitting big jumps at like 35mph. It'd be sweet to see a resort break out a radar gun and actually get a number

ive heard 55mph for chads gap as well. and seeing as chads gap is about as large as the biggest park jumps today i think it's safe to say that 55mph is about as fast as youll ever be going

theres a race in alaska called arctic man.... the release point is nicknamed FIRSTAID because you send off a knoll at anywhere from 65-75 mph.. youtube arctic man.... i raced this year but wiped out about 100 feet before first aid..

A couple of years ago there was this rage film where they built a massive step up/over with two landings/takeoffs, the one where Derek Spong (spelling?) got injured. I remember Mike Wilson getting pulled from one of the sleds and frontflipping it at an inhuman speed.

Those guys actually only go about 55-60mph. Seems a bit slow for how far they´re jumping, but when you watch it on tv they always show how fast they were going off the lip.

And i think some edit from chad´s had a radar gun in it, don´t remember which one.

And i don´t remember which movie it´s from, probably an older one, where they had 2 jumps going the opposite way of each other, where they were being towed in my snowmobiles and hitting pretty high speeds. i´ll look for the clip.

he couldnt have been going 98 could he? he undershot by a solid amount, which implies he would have had to go more than 100 mph to clear the jump, which i can't imagine they would think is reasonable when doing some loose math before hitting it..?

big bertha- good call but didnt only candide hit it, undershoot, and get worked? i dont remember

the rage films jump is another good suggestion-- itd be nice if one of those dudes could chime in here. i remember one of them saying they felt like they were bouncing around in the air more than they were on the ground during the in run

SCI jump is another great suggestion, you could see they had to scoop out the in run cause of the compression so they were probably pinning it. in this case too there are def people on here that were there so itd be sick if they could drop by

and yeah that last shot in candide's teaser he's definitely mobbing but i think he probably loses a lot of speed after straighting the mogully part and goes over the flatter section

This is the nature of action sports, for kids to completely ignorant about their own sport. If anyone has the record it's Mike Wilson for being towed into the true channel gap at the park shoot for RAGE Films Corduroy. He was being towed in at just under 100 MPH, yes that's MILES per hour, and he kept overshooting the jump to the bottom. I find it hard to believe that he was being towed at 100 mph, seeing that downhill skiing max out at like 90 mph, which is you fall you die fast. Even if he was, he wouldn't have hit the lip of the jump with 100 mph. I would guess on some of the biggest jumps, JOI, Big Bertha, Frostgun they will come in to the tranny hallin ass at like 70-80 mph, but going of the lip at no more than 50-60 mph.

no it's pretty easy to get up to 98mph when you're being towed in by a sled, going down a ski run...

it scares me to think about what will be forgotten by you kids in the next 3 years...
