Jesus, the fastest i have gone was probably 70 mph down the longest and steepest run at me hill, straight bombed it a ski patrol yelled at me

ive used the ski tracks app with gps to log 65mph switch on uneven terrain at stratton. im pretty sure on that slope, all experienced skiers who can ski switch could do that..

I don't know if I've ever gone over 65. I've been recorded at 58 and that wasn't the fastest I've gone but it was pretty damn fast.

he was going pretty straight too, when I get going a decent clip switch I try to stay on an edge.

on the regular speed tracks you normally cannot get faster than 80km/h however early in the morning we took away the fences and dropped in way earlier. when i reached the regular drop in i did the 180 to do the rest swith. it was about 70km/h and it was damn scary. i passed the line doing 89 switch.
that day it was really icy never made it anywhere near 90 after that only around the 80s.

the fastest speed ever recorded on a downhill race was 96.7, the average top speed of a medalist at kitzbuhl is ~85, and thats on the fastest section of the fastest course in the world. most downhil events have racers topping out between 75 - 80 mph.

people who are talking about getting clocked by a ski tracker app, keep in mind that those arent always accurate and may be swaying 10 mph in either direction. after all, it is a free iphone app, not a real GPS.

to those saying you have gone over 75 even forward... your probably lieing. I used to race in an event where the racers tried to get the highest recorded mph we could. and the trail was pretty steep. not many ever got over 70 i believe 65 - 68 were the winners. 80 is rediculously fast

plus for an iphone app to be accurate it needs to calculate your vertical descent accurately. the distance you travel horizontally should be fairly accurate, but to get accurate altitude is what messes up the speeds really badly. last season I was trying out an iphone app and the vertical descent was off by about 50%. recreating the exact same run would gave me results varying from 80 km/h to 105 km/h when in reality I was probably within 5 km/h each time.

I can go faster.

-Find high wall
-Jump off wall
-Have tips of skis touching wall
-Reach terminal velocity
-Deploy parachute and eject skis
-Land safely

Gotta be a pretty high wall, though.

I've straight lined one of those ski jump landings before, you get going real fast and I know I was no where near 80mph. This guy deserves respect.
