Fucking studying for finals is terrible i honestly get off topic every 3 seconds haha like testing is a joke. I fucking hate school don't get me wrong but it should be about learning not testing! there is to much stress put on tests. People choke and shit. Like so many european countries don't even test yet they have a hire rate of students graduating into prestigious colleges!
your thread title was "studying sucks". The reason they have to test people is because a lot of people will agree that studying sucks, and if they didn't have a test, would not learn the material.
do you know what a nightmare if would be if highschool and undergraduate students didn't have to write tests? Kids would graduate without learning shit and the schools would have no idea who is doing well and who is falling behind.
I agree that school is about learning, not writing tests, and there have certainly been times where I felt a test fucked over my mark considering how much I knew and couldn't show on the test. At the same time, if you really do care about learning the stuff, then the tests shouldn't worry you to much anyways.
So. As a Human Physiology major, doing pre-medicine with the intent to go to med school. Im in scads of science courses in high school. And this is the one thing I have to tell you. Dont EVER bitch about studying for a high school exam. You dont even come close to scratching the surface of what its like to actually study for an exam. Pull a 14 hour day staring at a biology book only taking breaks to eat and void your bowels, then come and talk to me. And you know what the best part is? I know what Im going through now isn't shit compared to the next level of schooling I want to go to. Does studying that much suck? Yeah, it does. But you know what? Quit being such a pansy ass little piece of dickweed and quit your bitching and just do it.
true dat, i'm in the middle of finals, pulling days of at least 8 hours effective studying,
tuesday i woke up at 7am, and started studying with only short breaks of 30minutes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, i stopped at 1am clock probably my longest learning spree so far ... :)
I am pretty sure other european countries do test a lot too (I can only say for Germany, but I dont think it different elsewhere...) Its just a phase of your life, get it done with and move on. Easy as that. Its not gonna last forever. BUt I am pretty sure that once you are in college, you will wish back for all the freedom you had back in school (true for me at least).
hahaha i do this with my friend but we make a multi page comic that is interspersed throughout his notes. We rip on all the teachers and if they found it we would be in sooo much trouble
North American education systems are completely pants-on-head retarded. I'm not sure what it's like in the rest of the world but what we have here doesn't make any sense to me. You do learn some important things though.
I love going to school for the social aspects but the actual education part of it makes me want to just drop out, which now adays is frowned upon and limits your job options substantially.
all these people saying college was tough, yea it was tough but still a joke, granted i didnt do science but i still came out with a double major working 25 hours a week.
Yea i did multiple back to back to back all nighters and 2 weeks of cramming straight but thats becasue I procrastinated my entire semester untill the end of the semester.
Dont let^ scare you its not like you study 10 hours on the reg in college.
I really do hate this. I always breeze through my problem sets in math and then the assignment and tests have no fucking clue what to do. Class averages of 52% suck when you need >60% in order to not get a D (academic probation if you are doing multiple math courses in one semester)
im taking a condensed organic chemistry class over the summer, its starting to dawn on me how much work the last two years of college are going to be, need to learn red-ox reactions nmr stuff and mass spectroscopy in one week, shit!
