Have you never had a hamstring or quad cramp? They are fucking brutal, like when I had one I personally couldn't do anything but cringe and lay on the ground, easily one of the most painful things you can experience (not including like horrible injuries)... Those NHL douchers act like it was a joke, I would love to see them get a charlie horse and then just get right back out there and play through it like it was a scratch.

hockey players play with broken ankles, hands. have you ever tried skating with a broken ankle?
i would say shit hockey players are playing with in game 5 of the finals is a lost worse than basketball.

I had a hamstring cramp during the first game of the state rugby tournament. Wanna know what I did? Didn't tell anyone and finished the game...and the next three games as well.

Why is doing something while hurt so glorified? I think you'd be pretty stupid to worsen your broken ankle injury by skating on it, not hurrah you.

yes ive had leg cramps, foot cramps, and hip flexor cramps. they hurt, but honestly its nothing to cry about, and have people carry you off. not as bad as he made them out to be.

and hockey players? dude they leave with scratches, cuts and broken bones and still play. a few examples:







basketball players flop like fish. plain and simple.



i could go all day.

taylor hall skate to the face, 30 stitches. richard zednik skate to the throat. jeremy roenik skating with a nerve ending protruding into his mouth.

speaking of JR how about this little tidbit while he played for philly:

On February 12, 2004 during a game vs. the New York Rangers, Roenick was hit in the face by an errant slapshot from Rangers defensemen Boris Mironov.[11] The force of the shot broke Roenick's jaw in 19 places[12] and knocked him unconscious for several minutes as he lay on the ice in a pool of blood.[13] Roenick suffered his ninth concussion on the play, and there was concern that he had suffered damage to his brain's circulatory system,[13] in addition to the broken jaw


hockey guys know injuries. basketball players, not so much.

Dude just jump on lebrons dick already...we get it you're a superfan.

Hockey players are well known for playing through excruciatingly bad injuries especially when it comes to the playoffs there is no questioning the toughness of an average NHL player

thats not to say anything bad about basketball players - Ray Allen playing with broken bones in ankle, avery bradley playing with torn shoulder ligaments just to name a few that played through brutal pain

This is shitting more on Lebron who was clearly playing up the injury anytime a camera was in his direction

Hockey is a bit different i guess, i am probably just biased. But it seems like basketball, baseball players get to the finals a lot. I dont really pay much attention but i know in the past years it seems like boston, lakers, lebron have been to the finals a lot.
In hockey, the last team to win back to back titles was 97-98. When hockey players are playing in the finals, they literally may never be back so i think they give it their all.
Freezing stuff just so they can put their skates on. They might not be playing at 100 percent but they are giving it their all.

I mean I have never played hockey, but I also find it unlikely that someone can actually continue playing on a broken ankle that was t-hall status. I mean I don't know why you guys are comparing hockey to basketball, like really?

All I am saying is that LBJ is one of the most athletic people in the game of bball, and you could legit see he was in pain from the cramps. I mean to call him a pussy is a pretty dumb thing to say, cause you have to know to take someone like LBJ down like that it has to take a lot...

dan boyle played with a broken foot for a few months. lebron barely lasted 10 minutes with a leg cramp.

Shawn Thornton sliced in the face by a hockey skate and needed 40 stitches..skates off the ice to make a line change instead of waiting and having the refs blow a whistle. Then tries to fight members of the blackhawks bench after they yell shit to him while he's bleeding profusely

Not t-hall status but still broken.

"I got hit in the foot by a shot by Gordie Howe, so they took me to the Olympia infirmary. The guys who looked at it didn't think I could hurt it any more than I already had, so they froze it and I went back to play the game," recalls Baun, who had to be taken from the ice on a stretcher. "I knew it was broken; I didn't need any X-rays to tell me that. But I didn't want to miss the overtime. I told the trainer he had to do everything possible to get me out there. He gave me a shot of painkiller, which numbed the ankle, and taped it tight. Then I laced up my skate and went back to the bench."

His foot did turn out to be broken?Baun later jokingly called it "the best break I ever had"?but that didn't stop him. And for the Leafs, it was a good thing the stalwart defenseman decided to rejoin the action in game six. Just two minutes into the overtime, Baun made himself a hockey legend. He took a pass from Bob Pulford near the blue line. His shot deflected off the skate of Detroit's Bill Gadsby, past Terry Sawchuk and into the net. Two nights later, the Leafs won game seven, and with it the Stanley Cup.

I mean I haven't actually ever really watched a full hockey game so I am going to bother comparing the two anymore. And after watching some of those videos it seems an average hockey player is Travis Pastrana status when it comes to pain...

But now I consider myself to have normal pain tolerance, and all I will say is when I had a charlie horse it just took me down. And yes you can play back through it, which he did, and made a huge 3 btw. But if it starts happening again on the court I mean there is only so much you can physically do about that, cause they def do hurt...

But I guess I am just a pussy it seems.

Dudes recounting stories of hockey players playing while hurt, my favourite story is New York Islanders' Brendan Witt. The Islanders were playing in Philadelphia and Witt went out for a coffee before the game. As he was crossing the street, he was hit by a truck. He flew 5 feet and landed on the pavement. He then got up, swore at the guy driving the truck, and when bystanders asked him if he was okay he said "I've got to go play some hockey. I'm a hockey player. I'm okay. No big deal." One of the people who saw it said "I really thought a Hollywood movie was being made. I was looking around for cameras. I can’t believe how tough this guy is. It’s insanity."

Witt had 17 minutes and 2 seconds of ice time against the Flyers in the game that started shortly afterwards. Not sure what the damage to the truck was like.

Different sports and different injuries too though. I mean a hamstring injury in basketball when you are jumping how far/high every time you take a shot is gonna hurt you a lot more than in hockey.

And to the idiot that thinks a hamstring injury is somehow worse to an NBA player than an NHL player..have you ever seen the size of the legs of hockey players?? They're fucking tree trunks..trust me a hamstring injury would be devastatingly painful to hockey player that is skating up and down the ice all game

This would be valid except that Lebron is one of the few players where you rarely talk about injury so I think that his pain and reaction was genuine since this is something we've rarely, if ever, seen from him.

being from england, i haven't watched much hockey, but all of these stories of them playing on broken ankles etc. makes me think they are fucking morons! why the fuck would you risk potentially damaging yourself beyond the point of return, to play a few more minutes of a match!?

However, Baun is remembered for his performance in game six of the 1963-64 NHL season Stanley Cup finals against the Detroit Red Wings. On April 23, 1964, having broken his leg earlier in the game, he returned in overtime and scored the game winning goal. The Leafs won the next game 4–0 to win the best of seven series, and secure their third consecutive Stanley Cup championship.

i remember watching jeremy roenick take a puck in the jaw and skating off the ice under his own power holding his face in place, as it was all smashed to bits. that was so fucking grotesque. like honestly the camera's showed him holding his jaw and it was all loose and hanging. i cringe just thinking about it.

There's no doubt that hockey players play through injury (the intelligence of that is for another discussion), but in my opinion, talking shit about Lebron is extremely tacky. It makes they look immature and jealous.

I believe that some of you have never fully experience a full-on serious hamstring cramp. After a day of basketball when I was younger, my right hamstring cramped up so hard it actually tore fibers. I ended up with the worst looking bruise of my life that went from my right hip all the way down to below my knee. I guarantee that no athlete, in any sport, would just play through something like that.

Lebron may be kind of a bitch, but I can't think of a better athlete on the planet... he's 6'8 260 and runs a 4.4 40 and is incredibly strong. When your that good you can do what you want.

In game 7 of the 1952 Stanley Cup semifinals vs. the Bruin, early in the game, Richard took a two-handed stick swing to the face knocked him out on the spot.
He woke up in the locker room, super groggy, laying out on a trainer's table with a bunch of stitches in his face.
He immediately got up, stumbled back up the tunnel, took a seat on the end of the bench, and asked the dude next to him what the score and the time were, since his post-concussion vision was so blurry and fucked up he couldn't read the scoreboard.
As soon as Richard heard it was a tie game with only a few minutes remaining, he went over the boards, got into the game, took the puck, faked out a defender, and scored the game-winning goal with a bandage still strapped to his face, sending his time to the Stanley Cup Finals. The concussion Richard suffered was so intense that the next day he didn't even remember the game.
