People who have gone to CoC AND Momentum

Alright, I live in whistler, and mostly everyone I know goes to momentum, I want to go to CoC but they all say the coaches don't even coach you, you just get to ride with them, is that true? I'm trying to decide on what summer camp for next year, for the people who have been to both what one was better?



Also, I'm really sorry for posting this because I know these types of threads get posted all the time, but I could not find an answer for my question.

I went to COC as a camper a few years ago and my coach at the time (Joe Schuster) definitely helped me a bunch! You just have to let your coach know what tricks you want to learn and ask him for tips and you'll learn a bunch. Can't learn anything if you don't ask

Went to COC last year for my first time, had Mack Jones as a coach. All the coaches are super chills and willing to help any camper (even fi they arent their own) with learning new tricks. If you ask they will teach - helped me learn my first few inverts with them. Go to coc

My coaches last year at Woodward @ Copper were super helpful and they help you progress your tricks from trampoline all the way to snow. The coaches are always focused on you and having fun and learning new stuff. You set goals and they work with you to accomplish them, it works great, not to mention they are super nice and friendly.
If you were interested in going there maybe...

I also know that COC and Momentum are great camps and you'll have fun if you go to any of them.

yeah if you're quiet and don't ask for help they're just gunna cruise around with you but if you let them know you wanna try something new or work on something they'll help ya out

the coaches at COC are very helpful, and all of the coaches are generally willing to help as opposed to just who you were assigned to.

i went to coc last year, and had max hill as a coach, it was sick, he skied with me everyday and he taught me a whole bunch of new stuff.

I dug at momentum for a little bit and really was not all that impressed by their park. Momentum may be designed for skiers but, COCs park is consistently much better at least in my opinion. Ive always heard that most of the pros ski at coc because they want to, where as momentum has to go out and hire all the them every year. Ive only ever skied at the two parks normally, so i cant speak on coaching. I just liked the vibe better at COC, maybe it would be different if you were younger and going to camp there. At momentum i felt like i was surrounded by nothing but complaining rich kids. COC definitely has its fair share to, but it always seemed to me that there were a lot more people over there just always shreddin for fun and havin a good time. So keep in mind thats all my very subjective point of view, but if i were you id go to COC for sure.

I was in the same dilemma as you, but i went with momentum in the end for the following reasons:
1) Coaching is better at momentum
2) Skiers only at momentum
3) more laps
4) can be good or bad depending on your views ---> less features so you can focus more on learning specific tricks on specific jumps whereas COC you are almost overwhelmed
5) activities are just as good as COC
6) Faster lines
no matter what one you pick you are going to have an insane amount of fun, and your summer will rock!

i went to coc and had joe as a coach, learnt so much stuff and he helped out a ton it would shock me if there is better coaching cause he was giving me tips and saying step by step what to do for new tricks. same as others said too in that all the coaches help u out. i even had snowboard coaches giving me tips and helping me out . plus coc park is ten tines better haha. any more questions and pm me

Never been to coc, but with all camps I'ts like earlier mentioned: If you just passively ski around without asking your coach for help, you won't learn anything from them. Just don't be shy and ask your coach for help and tips and you should be able to learn a lot!

no, he was originally asking about what camp to go to and thought I would mention it, Sorry if that made you upset, I guess I'm a little obsessed with Woodward, but really it was like the best 2 weeks of my life last summer!

yeah sorry i freaked a bit, and i see that he is looking around for camps. i'm actually thinking of going there next year, with a pretty good real park and an EPIC indoor facility, that place looks sick. and looks like there aren't many people

no problem if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Sessions are still open i think too. Also they have like <120 campers total for all sports(skate, snow, ski and gymnastics/cheer)

Really? I'm sorry but your review is so biased towards Momentum. Do you really think kids will be like "OMG there are too many things to do here fuck I want to go home". You either went to Momentum and saw the COC park and you're in denial about how awesome the park there is, an alias of a Momentum employee or a fucking retard. I've been to both Momentum and COC, both are super sick and have their pros and cons but the COC park is 100 million times better than at Momentum. The only thing Momentum has better is their halfpipe. COC has a halfpipe but it's pretty small.

Why would he go to woodward when he literally lives at these two camps? There's no point in flying somewhere where the skiing is worse.
