Fireworks

The first fireworks store just opened in my town after the new law that stated that they are legal in the state of Maine took effect on January 1st. Yay!

BUT WAIT.

Every town in the state has sub-laws on the matter. The hard ass politicians in my town decided to constrain the legality of fireworks to just the day before and after the 4th of July and New Years. Fuck!

So here's my question:

What are the laws in you guys's towns?

And if it's similar to mine, how much do people and the cops (more importantly, the cops) care when people light off a few on "illegal days"?

I'm still gunna light some off, as I did when they were illegal now and again, but I'd like to know how secretive I should be about it. Inb4 you can't hide fireworks.

Due to high fire danger my town banned all firework stands from opening and aren't even doing a show :(

Ohio has a ban on fireworks. Although we have a bunch of fireworks stores. You just buy em and they tell you you have to take them across state lines to use... hahahaha its a joke

the area i live in is like a "small town" and the neighboring county i go to for fireworks is rural so...

we don't have much regulation haha as long as we don't set anything on fire i guess



i remember last year Fourth of July, some kids were setting off firecrackers and roman candles near the cop cars and they just kinda rolled their eyes

there's no laws about firework here haha quebec ftw

the only laws are that you cant fire them in the streets and in the parks...

Minnesota's laws are lame. We can pretty much only have the little "showers" and smoke bombs. Luckily I live close to North Dakota where there is little to no laws with fireworks so we buy everything over there...

Fireworks are 100% illegal without a license in New Jersey. I've heard cops wait on the Pennsylvania border by firework stores and just pull people over they see come out and into NJ.

We always drive up to Vancouver from Portland to buy fireworks. We would hide all the illegal ones under the seat so that when the police would follow you from the shop across the border to pull you over, we would just keep some smoke bombs and sparklers in the bag and show them those just to piss them off.

Yeah, in MN they can only sell snakes and sparklers (movie reference). But the best part is we can just hop over to Wisconsin or NorthDakota where fireworks shops line the boarder and buy what ever we want.

and I've never gotten in trouble around the fourth for launching mortars.

The same law just went into effect here in MI. They say they will give you a warning the first time you are caught, but if you are caught again they said you could get fines and possible jail time. Who knows though I hear fireworks going off a few times a week here anyway..

Burlington Washington, many Indian reservations = lots of fucking fireworks and I live outside city limits so no law, 2 cops live on my street and don't care buuuut me and my friend did cause about a quarter acre fire my freshman year

In Germany you can only buy them the 3 business days prior to 1st Jan.
Also you are only allowed to light them on 31st Dec and 1st Jan. Kinda sucks, but whatever...

But this is exactly what we do. The cops don't care if you fire them off on the 4th, as long as you aren't being obnoxious with them (shooting at cars, houses, people).

Illegal her in mass but I just go up to newhampshire and stock up for the summer, cops don't really care as long as your nit setting them off for over 20 minutes.

Well I live in pennsylvania but I go to my familys lake house on Erie. Its smalltown USA for sure. Buy from Phantom Fireworks in Ohio because its legal, and the town in which we live allows fireworks within reason. Just not in populated areas and stuff.

fireworks are pretty easy to get in ontario.

my friend wanted to buy some fireworks one night (just regular friday night) so we roll up to some asian minimart and ask if they have fireworks, and they did, and they were going to sell them to us, and we're 17. but it was like $50 for a bunch of big shitty roman candles so we were like nawww

I live near Denver and in the past, any fireworks that go in the air like roman candles and bottle rockets have been illegal. It doesnt really stop anyone in my neighborhood though because everyone just goes to Wyoming to buy illegal fireworks, and the cops don't seem to care.

fireworks are illegal in my city, but they're legal in neighboring cities so there are stands around. But my parents live on the lake (claim) and everyone on the lake lights them off and the cops don't care or do anything about it. Their neighbor has an actual cannon-- like a war cannon that he lights off-- I don't think it shoots anything I think it gets packed with gun powder and just makes a big boom-- like a quarter stick. Also we've lit off 1/4 sticks, 1/2 sticks and tennis ball bombs and have never heard from the police.

The riskiest thing in our state is buying the illegals (m-80s, sticks, bombs) at the reservation. They've cracked down hardcore, and there are undercover cops everywhere. I don't even really care for these fireworks but my brother has always been into them so I always ride with him to the Res.

Houses not on the lake in my city can sometimes get away with fireworks, too. It's basically unenforced unless someone: starts a fire, gets injured, or the neighbors complain.

haha "get the water niggah its goin down" so funny. Last year I constructed a tennis ball bomb taking out black powder from 4 mortars and when the thing went off it was loud as fuck, shook the ground and flaming tennis ball shrapnel shot every where catching my lawn on fire I had to get the hose quick so shit didn't burn down.

Multi shot mortars became legal last year here in utah. But i make my own explosive fireworks that make much bigger booms than the m80s you buy at the store. Me an my bro blew the door off of an abandoned building on the outskirts of my town last year with one of our homemade bombs.

Haha that's pretty sick. Some kid in my physics class this past year made his own napalm. Yeah. Then when he told my teacher he told us how to make all kinds of bombs haha. Like diesel fuel and fertilizer makes for a nasty bomb

They did legalize them all, but I saw on the news a few weeks ago that they passed a law only allowing you to use them on holidays and the day before and after.

i live in NY. there illegal here. but a lot of people make trips to Pennsylvania to get them, so there's kind of a mini black market at school/ on the bus for them.

we have friends bring fireworks from Maryland and set em off, nobody gives a shit.


we bought lab grade fireworks once, like the ones you see in fireworks shows.... lit one off from our yard and then moved to the beach cuz they were so loud, it was fucking dope.
