Light Weight Bindings

I just got the Rossi S4s and they are super light. I want to buy a decently lightweight binding to slap on them. I have Rossi FKS120s (the gold ones) on my 4FRNT STLs right now, and an older pair of Rossi Axial 120 on an old pair of scratches. I was thinking about buying new bindings to put on the S4s if I sell the old scratches. Im about 5'9", 178lbs. Are there any light weight bindings that you guys suggest to put on the S4s? +K for Help -K for negativity.

Well light weight usually means less durable. You could get something like a squire or a z12 which are both light, but chances are they wont hold up well.

Your best bet is probably something like a STH12/14 driver. Not too heavy (lighter then axilas, FKS and peaks) but still very durable.

Thanks for the response +K. Also, this might be a dumb question haha, but if my S4s are 116/84/109, the break width should be 90 correct?

If you're happy on a 12-Din mostly-plastic binding the Griffon really isn't that bad.

Yep a 90 mm will be the best bet on those, you might try an 80mm too but it will probably be a little tight.

idk how the weight of 12 and 14 compares to 16 but my 16s are heavy as shit

They really aren't that heavy compared to other bindings. I have never figured out this obsession with people wanting the lightest binding, it sacrifices so much durability, and lighter bindings tend to not last as long. You have to compromise. OP Should look into the STH 14 Driver. Not as big or heavy as the 16, but you still have all the durability and everything that makes the binding last forever.

Rossi s4's are SO light, that you can get away with a heavier binding, your pretty big so a 14 don would be a good compromise, driver 14's or fks 14's are both good choices.

Thanks for all the responses. and ya they are really light. I found a pair of Rossi Axium 120s for like $120 so I think if I sell my other skis Im gonna go with those. They are the florescent yellow ones haha.

is the 2012 Atomic FFG 10 basically the same thing as the STH12 driver or whatever?

No go for the 10s being the 12. I'm pretty sure Atomic calls their driver toe a "team" binding.

^ yep the only atomic binding with a Driver toe is the FFG 16. The FFG 10/12 use the standard z toe, and the FFG 14 uses the oversize Z toe.

Thoses axials will be ok, but they are supper heavy, but you have a light ski, so it may not be too bad.

Not any more. This year the FFG Team 14 has the Driver toe. It's blue and white. I've held a pair, being on the upside-down side of the world we get everything a bit earlier.

No, at your size, I'd avoid getting low end bindings. If you can invest in good bindings, they'll last forever

For the 12/13 season, both the FFG 16 & 14 will use the Driver toe.
