So I write music...

inb4 wannabe rapper, cause I'm not
I write music. I've written two songs now. They're modeled after the works of Dylan Owen and The Blue Scholars.  I want to get NS's advice on them. I know you guys are gonna be dicks to me and shoot me down. But these are all, 100% written by me and based off of life experiences I've had. I'd like you guys to tell me things you liked, things I could do better.

My first song.

We can't let our memories define us
Well understand this strange force inside us
We need to let it provide for us and
We need to let it remind us
If we take his pain inside us we can
Decorate our bodies with is then we will find it
That hidden answer that we all need
So take a sec and just breathe

And when you realize what it is inside you
Then you'll realize that it's me too
That we both sleep on the same kind of suffering
Yeah I can see those dreams suspended there
Hovering, not fully alive but I feel them buffering
And I know that our thoughts of happiness are rare
Every so often sending out a small prayer
But in due time it'll resonate within you
And with this resonation shall you see how I fare
So hold fast tho these thoughts, sweetheart I'll be right there

Understand my lyrics come from the heart

Coasting on the minimal I've screwed up a few things

My self esteem grew nice an tall like Yao Ming

This is my third song I'm writing. I only have this one verse. It's more hip-hoppish.. This is probably the best stuff I have.

As I scribble down these lyrics in a white marble notebook
I drift above the clouds as I give life a new outlook
Try to make these words catalyze some sort of change
So i hypothesize, visualize and revolutionize
Out industrialized world in a small part of my brain
It's insane, how far your willpower can push you
Shits like jet fuel hopped up on hubris and cocaine
And if you think I'm crazy you couldn't be more wrong
It makes you do work like the long march of Mao Zedong
When I press my pen to the paper lyrics ignite on the page
Only 15 years of age but my mind is a lot older
I see the way the world ticks, somewhat like a clock smith
So I pick my words carefully and craft them into art
These lyrics hit home with the precision of a dart
I spit that fire from my chest somewhat like Vesuvius
I'll lay the first verse to rest, rip the chorus apart next

When he was just a little kid,
he used to dream a little bit.
You could hear it in his voice, and the way that he spoke;
feel it in his heart, overfilled with hope.
She saw it in his eyes, in the way he used to stare.
He promised that he'd take her there.

As the boy walked along the shallow shore
He dreamed of days like they were before
A troubled conscience, he cast his worries to the sea
Or let them fly over the country, carried in the summer breeze
A year would pass on the lonely beach
and his dreams seemed so far out of reach
With the loss of ninety miles heavy on his chest
Slowly slipping under all the rest

She was all that he had left.
He was all that she had left.

When he was just a little kid,
he used to dream just a little bit;
of stolen hopes and broken homes
as he walked along those sandy stones.
Lips shaking in the frozen air,
he promised that he'd take her there.
Far away from fear and pain,
miles from the coming rain,
hidden from the hurt she once had felt,
hidden from.. the hurt she felt.

When he was just a little kid,
he used to dream quite a bit;
of a girl in the sand, the breeze through her hair,
he promised her he'd take her there.

Now the storms have passed, and the sea is calm.
He sits on the beach, with a picture in his palm.
He clings to the memories as if they'll save her life;
five years later he grips the recollection of that night.

Tears streak his face as he stands up to leave,
and with a saddening composure, he drops his heart into the sea.
He knew that she had never cared,
but he had promised her he'd take her there.

Hey that's not a bad thing. I don't hear a beat I have to agree that you write poetry. Learn to play the guitar or somethin, then make it into a song, that'd be cool

I feel like we would be able to judge it a lot better if we knew what kind of music would be behind it. Guitar? Piano? I can't really imagine how it's gonna sound.

I have no music to record it to, and I have a dumb teenage cracky voice, but I can try to record them on audacity or something. I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the idea

nah, audacity is an actual good program unlike garageband which is only good to a point.

I like the lyrics, it would be sick to see this recorded over something.

Alright I'll post my latest song that I'm working on

Its called Too Late

Verse:
I cannot hide these careless thoughts

Chorus:

Thats all I got so far. I have part of another verse that goes:

Was this real or was it just my fate?
To be torn apart by you.

I like it but it seems more like an ending to the song so im gonna put it in the last verse or even as a half verse followed by the outro chorus.

Anyways tell me what you guys think! I'm open to feedback and criticism!

I have a nice clean guitar finger picked part that goes over an E minor for the verse followed by a moderately distorted chorus with a lead guitar doing drop D guitar lick that gives some depth as well as some heaviness to the song.

Don't use the same word so much I saw like 4 repetative words in the first 7 lines or so and couldn't read the rest. use rhyming dictionaries to use variable words
