Seattle

So I've been really interested in living out in Seattle. I currently live on the east coast and I really haven't ever liked it, I'm more of a wilderness kid. Anyway, people in Seattle, what's it like to live there? Are there any good mountains around? (I know some but not a lot, I.e Bachelor). How much does it rain. Is the crime bad? Are there any really defining factors I should know about that would make someone not want to live in Seattle? Thanks.

i moved from CT to WA and it was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

bring a rain coat, and ski baker (def not stevens)

Not bad crime, it doesn't actually rain that much in terms of inches per year, but it's always cloudy and drizzly.  Also not very warm.

Oh and it's SUPER liberal.

but seriously, Seattle has a good urban vibe to it. It's spread out, lots of suburbs. if you can deal with the traffic/rain it's not a bad place to live. several mountains within a days driving distance with the one of the longest ski seasons in the world.

what would you do for a living? what do you like to do?

seattle is awesome. although it rains a good amount in the winter/spring the summers are epic. some areas have more crime than others, but its pretty average in that category. the skiing is pretty amazing but it can also be awful. a few years ago my home mountain (snoqualmie) was open for no more than two weeks. there are lots of cool hiking spots within a two hour radius. its a pretty awesome place!

Not to thread Jack, but can anyone tell me anything about Seattle Pacific University?

And to Op, Seattles a really cool place. Close to a few resorts, outdoor stuff fairly near by, good schools. Just rains and people cant drive in snow.

Personally I would either live in the city of seattle like freemont ballard area, or capital hill if you are more scene, or move out to like issaquah/north bend so you are close to skiing and hiking rivers etc in the summer. Im on mobile ill post more later

no hate on Canada but i think this point is a little absurd. Vancouver or Toronto I'm assuming is where you are coming from bc its the only cities in Canada Ive ever been to that could even compare to a city like Seattle. Its ranked as one of the best places to live in the US. oh and OP the misty climate is actually cool! it also makes the sunny dayz where you can see rainier spectacular! i think you appreciate sunny days more when they are less frequent. The city has a great vibe, great people, good food, awesome nightlife, water and mountains. Traffic sucks but you can find places to live where that isnt the case. My parents lived on Mercer Island and it was 10 min into the center of seattle on a bad day. Granted you probably cant afford to live there its still an awesome city!

In the winter it is usually cloudy and rains often. Its not to bad when you know all the rain is falling as snow in the mountains. The summers are dry and sunny, not to warm or to cold. There is also a lot of high quality bud, and shrooms, plus a lot of fun, cool outdoor activities.

Are you going to school in seattle?

If not maybe think about other cities in washington, or PNW. Some awesome places in Oregon and idaho.

i don't want to thread jack but i sort of want to head west too, i'm probably looking for mechanical engineering or something of the nature, and seattle sounds nice. unfortunately my grades are like mid 80's, but i did well on the sats, 1320. anyone know of anywhere that might be suited to me?
